Exactly.
Hope you are telling them that being talented includes how best to use Gen AI.
But there will be fewer in this category than the cohort of "all new lawyers." This is what is keeping deans up st night.
2/What should journal editors do with the fact that many of the AI submissions are better than human articles? Are they wrong? Or is it that we reject the implications of this belief? Hard question to me. You?
Great threads here with top legal scholars on what appears to be the disintegrating law journal system because of undisclosed AI articles. My take: It's complicated./1
Thanks. I was hoping that is what you meant. Hard agree.
Will you say more about "using" AI?
So much yes. My old hands can't easily find the right emojis in the moment.
But isn't the position of the reader critical in all this? Not critical to lovemaking, but I won't pursue that analogy further.
With you entirely. My narrow claim is that the criteria should be "better than us" not "damn, I like being the writer."
I am just kind enough. Never more than that.
I am disagreeing, although I hate to do that with my friend. It is now better than average consistently. Not top 10%, but pretty good and getting better steadily.
I hear you. Just wonder whether we are prepared to differentiate ourselves from AI on a dimension separate from our personal preferences.
Excepting you and a certain member of your household.
I don't get this. The self-indulgence of writers is not the point. Any more than is the desires of buggy-whip manufacturers. I am prepared to believe in the comparative limits if gen AI. But if it ends up being better, my desire to keep the pen is not a high social priority. Fight me.
Lol
But that stuff is in fact coming for all our jobs.
Just kidding, of course.
For anything? Still using a rotary phone? And booking your flights through a travel agent?
I'm a fan. Can't deny.

WV v. EPA was a dumpster fire of an opinion. In its wake, the Supreme Court was obliged to clarify the Major Questions Doctrine for lower courts. Instead, it has spent the last ~4 years just making things worse.
So hard to unpack the assumptions and misunderstandings about 2/26 LLMs and AI in this thread.

Big news, bad news.
"And the kids still respect the college dean." Love that line. RIP, Merle.
Yep. But real it is.
I really need to see a rematch 11 years later of Mayweather-Pacquiao, said no one ever.
Plus no legal authority to do this.
