We are a vassal state.
We are a vassal state.
Oh no did an unpopular right wing president fail to come through on any of their promises while they crash the economy and unilaterally start a war to 'distract' from it? Again?
What fucking year is this?

I spoke to @tarneen.bsky.social Dr Kaz Ross for their thoughts on why Invasion Day 2026, despite facing a two-pronged threat from the state and parasite nationalists hoping to counter it, is truly worth standing behind. Read in @independentaus.bsky.social:

They got promised the Fourth Reich and they're getting racist Judge Judy
Anyone else think this Venezuela show-trial abduction shit is a boondoggle to distract US voters from their failing economy, rapidly expanding system of concentration camps and enshitification of all state infrastructure?
If so it's a damn obvious one and everyone seems real pissed off.
You know how Trump gets stupid ideas stuck in his head forever?
“In a July 2017 private briefing with intelligence officials, President Donald Trump apparently asked why the US wasn’t at war with Venezuela, noting that “they have all that oil and they’re right on our back door.”

For Trump & team it's a way of getting bribes. For Adani and team it'll be a way of starving out competition who couldn't bribe high enough.

It seemed crazy because it was. I think police were far more concerned with protecting the US consulate than the lives of 300,000 Sydneysiders
I contend police actions on the day were negligent, bordering on antagonistic. So does the legal observers.
We were chilled, and a lot of us survived by completely ignoring the police and getting off the north end of the bridge anyway.
I had to put up with reports from a lot of my friends getting pushed around and frightened in my group chats, though... it was close.
Curious, where were you when we were told to turn back?
Props to everyone for keeping cool while police at the right side of the bridge told us to move left, police on the left side told us to move right, and police tried to block the easily accessible stairs that lead off the bridge.
So Proud of my Sydney 🍉❤️
I walked past the barricade (as did heaps of normal folk and families) at the end of the bridge - there seemed like plenty of room for crowds to disperse. Certainly safer than reversing the march which is the most insane thing to have possibly done short of charging the crowd. #marchforhumanity
Anyhow, props to everyone for keeping cool while police at the right side of the bridge told us to move left, police on the left side told us to move right, and police tried to block the easily accessible stairs that lead off the bridge.
