2025 reads recap. Best neurodivergent representation
Autism representation: middle grade A Kind of Spark by Ellie McNicoll, middle grade Planet Earth Is Blue by Nicole Panteleakos, and picture book How Are You, Verity
OCD representation: WAVE a novel in verse by Diana Farid, Buzzing a graphic novel, and Turtles All The Way Down a YA by John Green
Neurodivergent middle grade: Octopus Moon is about depression, The Secrets We Tell The Sea is about anxiety and grief, Vanya and the Wild Hunt is an ADHD fantasy, The Wild Book is about dyslexia, Encantadoraβs Guide to Monstros and Magic is neurodiverse, as is the picture book Giraffes Canβt Dance
Thank you to all the authors creating stories with neurodiverse leads!
I really, truly, deeply loved these books. Surrounding myself with neurodivergent characters makes me feel so, so loved.

I love stories about discovering who we are and deciding how we want to show up in the world without the focus being on romance π It feels like thereβs more freedom in KidLit to highlight other kinds of relationships π

Currently reading The Song of Orphan's Garden, which has a lot of winter lol I just got The Girl in the Walls in the mail today, so I'm excited to start that soon! My TBR is much more vibes-based than season-based π
