Anyone else just feel like an impotent asshole calling their senators and representatives and having to say things like "Hi, yeah I'm disgusted that our country bombed a school with children for a war we don't want and can't afford and I'm scared about the future please do something."
The thing is, he believes himself.

Covid is going around a group I'm involved with, and guess what I'm learning? The copay for Paxlovid is super high for some insurance ($1K) and not covered by others. America: so great!!! 😷😷😷
PS The folks I know who are sick are vaxxed & regular mask wearers. Prevention is great, but SO ARE MEDS.

Food Not Bombs will be holding a donation-based bake sale in the corner to fuel your shopping rampage! Normalize centering women's sports, e.g. "hockey, basketball" and "men's hockey, men's basketball" )and acknowledge that nonbinary players play).
Apologies if "Zios" doesn't hit right! I mean, I bear no good will toward Zionists, but if the abbreviated term has dark implications, MY BAD

The promise to end the budget dance allows libraries to know that they would have stable funds SO THEY CAN PLAN OPERATIONS in a non-chaotic way.
The administration did not provide that in the prelim budget when it promised to do so.
Adding to what Katie is saying. The promise re: NYC public libraries was TWO-FOLD:
1. 0.5% of the city expense budget. [not reached in preliminary budget - only 0.39% allocated]
AND as importantly
2. Ending the budget dance. [underfunding/cutting assuming the council will restore to some level]
No cat for @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social until he restores public library funding to .5% of NYC's budget. Library renegers do no deserve feline love. 😿
This funding increase to 0.5% is a core demand of NYC PLAN - one which has been amplified by our library systems to help ensure that every branch has the staffing and resources to provide robust services to their communities.
Help us get NYC libraries the raise they deserve

WTF @mayor.nyc.gov has allocated LESS than Mayor Adams did to public libraries in his preliminary budget! He RENEGED on his commitment to fund NYC libraries with .5% of the budget. New Yorkers are SICK of this annual public library budget dance. @nycplan.org for more info. 📚 🗽

Since your job will never love you back, you need a union that will have your back!
Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't advise anyone to take an academic librarian position that didn't come with union membership and/or faculty status. 📚
