I discussed this with @adamgretz.bsky.social but I still think Laila Edwards is the most gifted female hockey player I've ever seen. Everything she does looks so easy it reminds me of watching Mario when he was first in Pittsburgh.

He runs great offense and has a terrific mind for that, but they’ve consistently been awful on the glass and much like Capel, I don’t think he can get the level of guys he needs to win playing that style.

Granted I'm having some health issues right now and having to combine work with Mr. Mom duties, but all you need to know about Pitt basketball is that I was offered courtside seats tonight and have degrees from both of these universities, and I didn't even consider going to this game.
I can’t wait to not feel obligated to have to watch Jeff Capel teams play basketball. I can’t deal with any basketball where defensive rebounding and shot selection aren’t at all valued.

I’m still in disbelief that the officials determined that play would have been a touchdown if not for the OPI. That would have been a historically bad ruling, even by NFL standards.

I feel badly for Coach Fisher and Pitt volleyball. People have no idea how much luck is involved in the one and done format. It just seems like it never breaks Pitt's way in pretty much anything, which is really sad for all involved.

I’ve had plenty of issues with the Capel era at Pitt, but I didn’t see it ending with a Kevin Stallings year two bottoming out. But it absolutely should be over at this point.
Don't worry, they'll be giving up a late touchdown to lose the game after the Steelers inevitably go three and out.

Now that we are past the emotional response portion of that sequence, that fake punt has to be one of the dumbest and most reckless decisions I can ever remember in a football game. If they would have done nothing but runs and screens this half this game would have been over twenty minutes ago.
I love all of the Pittsburgh sports teams, but to see a kid I've mentored and loved like a little brother since he was 12 years old lead a Pittsburgh team to a championship is absolutely surreal. Just tears of joy and pride.

This Pitt basketball team is the perfect combination of flawed and totally disorganized.
Bob had plenty of positive attributes, but he was tactically stubborn to a fault and largely unpopular with players due to his grating style. I don't think it is a coincidence either.
Control the boards and take good shots. That’s a big formula for success and particularly to avoid bad losses.
I was obviously a huge Dixon fan for about fifteen different reasons, but a big one was that I never had any doubt what his teams were trying to do. Capel routinely gets undressed by anybody with a decent offensive scheme.
I feel like I post something like this every season, but the one defining characteristic of the Jeff Capel era for me is that I never have any idea what they are actually trying to accomplish.
