As some one mentioned recently, I've been in hiding while I've been juggling a few balls. But I'm more than happy to share this co-authored commentary in the Conversation about the proposed English Language Bill with Andreea Calude and Jesin James.

I'm not mad about this but I honestly thought there'd be a few more of us out there!
I'm appreciating ECAN's new Smelt It app (I'm guessing a play on Geonet's Felt It) to address the waste water treatment smell over the last few weeks smelt-it.web.app

Soft launching a new look for 2026 and embracing the mullet+mo combo β¨
I went to my first DnB rave last night at Sydenham Underpass and I had so much fun.
I also received my first trinket from someone wearing a ghost patterned shirt π». So happy to learn it meant I was bringing the right vibe to the dancefloor.

It looks fantastic! And ticks a lot of boxes. I'm struggling to make a lady salad fun.
Oooooh this also sounds yummy and fresh. I'll try making this once I've got the ingredients
Yes! I could make a hedgehog out of fruit skewers! That's a classic party dish
This looks so good. I recently had za'atar the first time and it was delicious! I'm definitely keeping it in the archives for the pot luck!
Just five days to go to sign the petition adhdinquiry.nz
What's an easy potluck dish that requires minimal ingredients?
No hate to those spending hours lining up to EB Games before they shut up shop for good. I lined up 4 hours to try Popeyes when they opened up in Papatoetoe and 1.5 to take a whiff of the Titan Arum at the botanical gardens. There's a groundedness to the act of queuing.
And we have officially moved back to the beautiful city of Εtautahi. Spent the day collecting our belongings dotted across Rolleston and Christchurch, and it's so good to re-establish our 'home' again.
Thaaaaaanks! Sounds great, once I can take logistics out of the equation and get back on my bike I'm keen!
Now that was exciting, missed my connection on the 5 New Brighton by a whisker and the driver of the 820 Burnham was kind enough to waive it down so I didn't have to wait another 30 minutes at the Rolleston bus depot. Can't really complain about how kind most bus drivers are π€©
I feel like I've been on the go since I left for the US in August 2024 and I haven't had a breather since coming home. I'm looking forward to a bit of personal stability over the next wee while.
Binged it twice over the weekend. I don't know if I can watch the vanilla version anymore.
Oh Rolleston, heading to Hornby by public transport and it involves a 15 minute walk + 2 buses and and just over an hour travel time
I'm currently stuck in waiting mode. It's been almost five months since I've been back in New Zealand, and tomorrow me and the better half finally move into our own rental back in town. Both excited and terrified what's in store for us in the lock up π
American Dialect Association 2025 Word of the Year was 'slop'. I'm pretty sure it's not in the 'slip, slop, slap, and wrap' sunsmart context though. americandialect.org/2025-word-of...
The kind of research that makes one jealous.

Thank you! Happy New Year to you too!
For some reason since I've been back home I've re-calibrated the submission deadline of 11:59PM anywhere on earth (AOE) as 11:59AM NZST. It turns out I've been cutting myself short by 12 hours!
Alternatively, maybe I shouldn't cut it so fine with these deadlines.
It's been a silly few months with the move back home, submitting the thesis, and starting a new role, I feel like I'm now in a better space (and place) to re-connect with everyone on here! Hope everyone's had a chance to take a break!
