I was going to do that 9 game grid thing but my number one game wasn’t listed: Conquests of Camelot from 1990 by Christie Marx. It had many hours of play — I think it took me a year or two to get past Glastonbury Tor? Maybe I got as far as the desert in that time.
adventure games from the 80s were intentionally designed to be tricky, mean and occasionally counterintuitive so that you could get stuck for long periods of time. this was called “value for your dollar”
