'Invaders' - In recent years our backyard has been invaded with Spotted Lantern Flies. As summer approaches we begin to see the hatchlings transform from tiny black insects to the rather beautiful adult Lantern Flies, but knowing they are invasive, I gave my children permission to squash them-

A sequence from my recent book Shifter. In the book I chose a different color schemes for each scene, made to fit the atmosphere and general mood, I decided to go against the grain for dystopian sci fi, and not pick super gloomy or dark color scheme.
