Completely alarming. Honestly as a dual citizen living in Canada, I'm making sure my family's Australian passports are all fully renewed.

What if your resolution this year was to be less perfect, not more? Flawed advocates are often better climate messengers, so consider this your permission to check your perfectionism at the door this year: open.substack.com/pub/climatec...
A really smart and resonant read on why the process if thinking is as, if not more important the outcome: www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
You could get Botox⦠or you could try climate action.
I really can't emphasize enough that if you care about local politics, all you gotta do is show up. Just a regular schmegular person showing up. Literally just show up consistently in person and within a remarkably short amount of time, you will have a shocking amount of influence.
Just had a fantastic webinar walking the Climate Communications Alliance through @projectdrawdown.bsky.social βs Drawdown Explorer tool. This is SUCH a valuable tool for anyone who talks about climate, helping make complex issues simple & relevant. Highly recommend!
Would you call yourself an environmentalist? Probably not, but statistically, you almost certainly care about the health of our planet - 89% of us do.
I think the label "environmentalist" is doing more harm than good. Here's why: open.substack.com/pub/climatec...
Oil and gas companies collectively owe hundreds of millions to Alberta citizens, municipalities and the provincial government, and making these companies pay up isn't easy. Why do they owe so much? @drewanderson.bsky.social breaks it down: thenarwhal.ca/alberta-surf...
So sorry Andrea, this is so hard. We lost our beautiful boy nearly 5 years ago, and although I have another wonderful dog now, I still miss him enormously. Sending heart-healing thoughts.
Infuriated about Canada's backsliding into oil-soaked political expediency, I've been looking to restore a sense of agency. As well as writing to my MP, I'm proud to have signed the @fossiltreaty.bsky.social on behalf of my agency, Uncommon Ground. It feels good to support important work.
What if, and hear me out for a second, we DIDNβT confirm my account with a code you send to my email for the login I use every. Single. Day.

When the government is busy, so the lobbyists write the policy for them.
My latest article for the Climate Communications Alliance is out. Here, I draw on my experience leading large-scale change to ask, what we can we learn from corporate transformations (including some spectacular failures) that could help drive climate progress?

I respectfully disagree. Suggesting mental instability detracts from the deep disgust we should all feel that these thoughts & beliefs come from a perfectly stable, cogent mind. Because that makes them a choice, not an accident.
The @iea.org report shows the world is moving away from fossil fuels as clean energy continues to skyrocket. Canada should take note and move away from Trumpβs fossil fuel obsession. Read more from @gmbutts.bsky.social, Peter Nicholson & @rjcsmith.bsky.social

What a magical paradise. But we should probably rip it up to drill for really expensive and unnecessary fossil fuels that there rest of the world doesnβt want.
Thanks Sandra, and Iβm so sorry for what you went through as well. So many women have had this experience. I would never wish it on anyone - the vaccine is a gift we should absolutely not take for granted.
My latest piece for the Climate Communications Alliance comes out tomorrow. Iβm asking, what can the climate movement learn from corporate change management? I think, quite a lot. Subscribe here: substack.com/@climatecomm...
Nearly lost a baby as a result of an earlier cone biopsy that left me with almost no cervix. We were beyond lucky she was only 6 weeks prem in the end, but the pregnancy was the most stressful time of my life. I am INSISTING that my daughters get the HPV vaccine.
Influencer has become a dirty word, but really itβs just someone with a platform & credibility who can inspire others to act. And we need more climate influencers! People who can make climate action cool & aspirational.

"People drove 1.8 million fewer miles on city streets....City Council voted this summer to extend it [free transit] another year, paying for it with a 1 percent increase in utility taxes and by doubling most public parking rates to $2 from $1"

Investing in pipelines today is like buying Kodak shares in 1998. The writing is on the wall for legacy energy industries and Canadians deserve better for their tax dollars.
Communicating climate is hard. Audiences are fatigued, overwhelmed, distracted. This piece has some great advice for re-engaging people with climate stories & inspiring action: open.substack.com/pub/climatec...
Oh my god
There are SO MANY protests happening across the U.S. at the moment, and we're getting better and more coverage of them all the time. I keep adding to this thread and it's a bright spot of every week searching various news feeds for coverage π§΅
