Yeah and I understand things get weird in these games but even that's a little different imo, since it was the opposing team who started the fouling, so Wilt's team was just responding in kind.

Imagine if you had a running back closing in on a record. It's one thing if you're giving him the ball when you could be kneeling out the clock, but it's another level if you use all three timeouts to get him extra carries.
I guess to me intentionally fouling in the backcourt and missing free throws crosses a line that is different from just feeding a guy the ball. And they didn't even need to do it with time for at least 4-5 more possessions even if the Wizards just ran the clock out.
Just because it's within the rules doesn't mean it's within the spirit of the game and I think the fact that the refs didn't call a foul tells you all you need to know about where that play falls.
On a free throw that Miami intentionally missed to try to get their player a record and further humiliate the Wizards. Why would they not react like that?
