Wow I should really post here more.
Wow I should really post here more.
knew a guy called slias in my RAF days. said he was the first engine on sodor. didn't believe him till today. rest in peace slias, this pint's for you. bosh
Slinging coal on the red one today!
Neither, this is a live steam loco built by Roundhouse!
I specified the colour and will be doing further modifications to make it more Duke-like, but can't take credit for the masterful model making!
This is only the beginning though, lots to do on him beyond these test runs!
First things first though, time to get a name on him!
This was ordered brand new from Roundhouse and was done in a custom colour for me, that being Rover Russet Brown - I tried to find a shade as close as possible to the original illustrations and I *think* I got it spot on.
Ran absolutely beautifully straight out of the box - literally only arrived today and I was straight down the garden with it after work!
I'm a very happy Luke today - my first ever Roundhouse loco...
Of course it had to be Granpuff himself!

NEW EPISODE!!! And just in time for pride! It's Little Old Twins, a story so nice they adapted it... never.
Featuring everybody's guest star, @explcookie.bsky.social! Give it a listen!
Equally in the lectures where he talks about liveries under BR he does say "We have been able to maintain our liveries" when punctuating a point about how BR didn't include them in things and didn't enforce much control.
If he intended for them to have crests, this is where he'd say it.
If it's any help, if you get to Birmingham the Aberystwyth/Pwlheli train is the one you want and on a good day it's direct to Tywyn!
Oh I'm well aware haha
Hallo, one of the organisers here!
Tywyn is pretty booked up, by Aberdyfi, Barmouth, Porthmadog or Machynlleth may have room - all served by the Cambrian Coast Line that Tywyn is also on!
The Talyllyn is a 5 min walk from Tywyn mainline station.
The NWR was nationalised and didn't display crests - but would certainly end up with things like AWS etc
Ok so twitter is just like broke, broke.
Found a friend!
With 1 day to go until our Railway Series Weekend, one of our Special Guests has come out of the shed early to show off his lovely new coat of paint!
In fact, he's come out, especially since he heard he could be on TV. You can catch us on ITV News TONIGHT at around 7:20pm!"
but there's a good chance Wilbert might have sanded away the banjo part of one with the thing style as in the picture above.
The same model appears in another photograph, lined up with the other "main" engines at the time and I reckon it was repainted.
It's defo not Triang, I reckon it's a Trix one.
Now, the image I have here obviously has a banjo dome rather than the regular A1 dome, but an earlier version of the Trix A3 was available with this style of dome.
I'm trying to find evidence of one of these slightly later ones with an A1 dome.
🕰️ ON THIS DAY - 160 YEARS AGO
On the 22nd April 1865 the North Wales Chronicle reported on the recent delivery of a new locomotive to the Talyllyn Railway, which was none other than No.1 'Talyllyn'.
A special illustration has been prepared to mark this anniversary...
Had the pleasure of riding behind 'Russell' up to Beddgelert on the WHR yesterday morning.
Pictured is the afternoon service passing through the iconic Aberglaslyn Pass!
No.2 'Dolgoch' - hauling the 12:20 service all week
No.4 'Edward Thomas' - hauling the 10:30 & 14:10 services Monday to Friday
WHAT'S IN STEAM? 7th - 13th April:
We've got three engines in steam for you this week - starting with the Old Lady herself, No.2 'Dolgoch', which will be hauling the 12:20 train all week.
Joining her Monday through Friday will be No.4 'Edward Thomas', which you'll find at the head of
Happy international transgender day of visibility!
To celebrate, let us commemorate LBSC or Lillian "Curly" Lawrence , arguably the most prolific model engineer and an inspiration to thousands
It was a pleasure to show you around, please do come back - you know you'd be most welcome!
Eric, the true master of Pendre station.
Sir Haydn snoozing peacefully in the shed at Pendre.
Edward Thomas, ready to leave with the first morning train. Absolutely love the “Works Grey” livery!
Talyllyn taking on water. Very, very lucky to have not only ridden behind her, but to have joined the crew on the footplate for a spell. A remarkable engine!
I have been missing Wales and the TR terribly as of late. One of the absolute best experiences of my life. Cannot thank my friend @explcookie.bsky.social enough for spending the day with us and showing us around. I long for this place
Really wonderful stuff! Can't wait to see the rest of the fleet.

Labour are all "get people back to work!" while gutting one of the industries the UK is most famous for, an industry with plenty of jobs very suited for disabled people.
All my tv work is with the US. Now more than ever, I really wish it wasn't!
