Thanks!
Thanks!
Those are really cool!
Straight up at the towers of CC.
Looking across CC, ground is wet, CPS towers disappearing into fog.
Closer pic across CC to CPS.
Towers across from CC, w CCβs βJazzβ sign in bottom right corner.
Ok, last few, of Columbus Circle.
Thanks!

And from my office window.
B&W pic of Lincoln Center w surrounding towers disappearing into the fog.
Heavy rains after heavy snows can produce some cool fog.
Markwayne Mullins seems like a safe choice for Trump, bc have to think his Dem colleagues will be happy to get him out of the Senate one two years into his term.
But also feel like this is pure fry-pan-to-fire. MWM has an MMA career section on his Wiki page. Thatβs β¦ not great temperament.
I believe it was @johnpfaff.bsky.social who pointed out that, yes, the budget that ICE got last year was huge but the chances of them blowing it on graft and incompetence was high. A $230m ad campaign is yet another piece of evidence for that argument
Feel like was in the Levitt and Venkatesh piece. Or Venkateshβs subsequent book. Certainly remember Levitt telling us that when I was in grad school (as he was working on this piece).
This post is outrageously unacceptable.
Hegseth has a degree from Harvard too. They shouldnβt be allowed to escape accountability as well.
Cβmon, man, we know drug gangs are anything but communist. Guys at the top hoover up all the cash.
See, e.g., Levitt and Venkatesh, (2000).
Thatβs right. Even my sarcasm has citations.
Iβd add:
If you go to school, borrow money to better yourself, struggle, and declare bankruptcyβ¦
β¦ student loan debt survives.
But if youβre a cop given a public trust, violate by beating up someone handcuffed, lose and a lawsuit and canβt pay damages?
Bankruptcy makes them go away.
(Lawsuit in the $350,000 example wasnβt abt doing that. But the article pointed out that bankruptcy applies to civil judgments, and few things scream βbroken systemβ more than protecting the assets of violent cops more than poor students.)

Itβs not even βheads I win, tails you lose.β Itβs βheads I win, tails I win even more and end up richer bc I sent you to prison for 20 undeserved years.β
Professionally, I am not easily shocked or
Iβm permanently outraged, but rarely shocked.
I am, here, shocked.
Just to recap:
Cop misbehaves so badly a man spends 20 yrs wrongly in jail and jury demands cop pay $10M in damages and fees.
But bc city wonβt pay, cop sues and not only pays NONE OF THE SETTLEMENT, but GAINS $350,000 for the hassle of LOSING A LAWSUIT ABT MISCONDUCT.
Amidst all sorts of appeals and other litigation, CITY agrees to pay H $7.75M.
Ok. Fine enough.
But recall the bad cop, D, has an open lawsuit vs the city over indemnification.
To make that go away, city pays D $350,000.
In the end, the bad cop is RICHER THAN BEFORE.
Reading @jcschwartzprof.bsky.social paper on police indemnification, and one of her anecdotes?
OMFG.
H spends 20 yrs in prison on wrongful conviction.
Gets freed, sues cops, wins ~$10M vs cop D.
City wonβt indemnity D, D (w H intervening w him) sues city to make them indemnity.
Wait for itβ¦.
George Washington was apparently a weighted average of post-Coach-era Craig T. Nelson and Star Trek TNG-era Brent Spiner.
I mean, GW hanging around in a Hanes t-shirt calmly talking into a mic is absolutely insane.
But ... Bruen? Wurmanmania? So much other crap?
It's hard to oversell the insanity that is originalism.
I'm not even being sarcastic when I say this could be LESS dumb than most originalism out there.
Arguably the model is trained on GW's actual speeches, writings, etc., and sorta contained to what he's said in those?
That ... that might--100% sincere--be more accurate than what Thomas does daily.
We were just trying to get his license plate number. We got about 4 of the 6 before the guy peeled off at an exit and disappeared into midtown.
To be fair to the cabbie, the guy whose car he was trying to catch had, a few blocks before, hopped out of his own car, run up to the cabbie, and punched him in the head thru the open driver-side window because the cabbie had honked once at him.
I'd been in NYC for about 45 minutes at that point.
I was in a high-speed car chase down the FDR, years before I moved to NYC, back when I was in college. Like swerving in and out of lanes, chasing down the car in front of us.
I was trapped in the back seat of a cab driven by a very angry cab driver.
In the category of βwhy we should never use two y-axes,β this here is the GOAT. Absolute GOAT.
Thereβs a reason R wonβt even let you do two y axes. That reason is this.
(That said, still a legit huge accomplishment by China.)
I feel less bad that I said earlier I couldnβt pick Thune out of a lineup bc even after seeing this pic I still couldnβt.
He is literally the personification (or lack thereof) of the βGeneric Republicanβ ballot entry.
WHY IS EVERY PAPER ON EARTH USING SCHUMERβS PICTURE WHEN HE LOST ON A PARTY-LINE VOTE??
THUNE IS THE FACE OF THIS, NOT SCHUMER.
I MEAN, COME ON.
Takes like this literally reinforce the problem.
βWhat can you do abt the GOP? They ran as assholes, and theyβre crushing it.β
THATβS THE PROBLEM.
As Dril taught us, you do not, in fact, have to hand it to them.
They deserve BLAME for doing what they said theyβd do.
Jay from Quahog @fromquahog.com β’ 1m THE GOP ran on BEING PIECES OF SHIT The DEMS did NOT We EXPECT MORE Form them and THEY are FAILING MISERABLY! ... jtunes6.bsky.social @jtunes6.bsky.so... β’3m And there will be about a million BlueSky posts, probably half of them RW trolls acting as leftist voices, blaming "Dem leadership". β’β’β’
Itβs almost art. If only the order were reversed.
The @theguardian.com have an ombudsperson? Because this is the sort of editorial choice that a photo editor should have to publicly answer for.
