My colleagues and students are so sweet- I got multiple emails offering prayers and best wishes for my daughter’s surgery last week. I know I bitch a lot on here but I really do feel very grateful for my job and network 💕

Not funny, but also pretty damn funny: I did not expect my kid to look significantly sicker post-surgery than she actually is. More than a few people have quietly assumed she’s terminal, and I’m one awkward interaction away from hanging a sign around her neck that says, “I’m fine!!!”

Still here. Girly was grumpy all day until the sweetest music therapist showed up with a guitar and maracas to sing her songs and now she’s happy as a clam. The nurse also brought a play mat and toys for the room. I wish I could be a patient here lol

Spending the day at the children’s hospital for one of my kiddos (she’s ok) and wow they have really thought of everything. The waiting room has outlets and snacks, books, and board games. The doctors are texting updates every hour. It’s so sweet

Extreeeeemely niche, but are there any other scientists out there researching the Gulf coast? I referred to it as the "Gulf of America (formerly known as the Gulf of Mexico)" in a manuscript and a Reviewer is now asking if that's an "officially accepted term." Thoughts on how to respond?

Also he's wrong? NIH does conduct its own studies....NIH-AARP, Sister Study, GULF Study, those are all NIH-conducted epidemiologic cohorts. I'm sure there are others.
