Wait. They are releasing Epstein files to distract Americans from the war in Iran now?
Wait. They are releasing Epstein files to distract Americans from the war in Iran now?
Ugh. Good story.
Within this story from @kehyslop.bsky.social and @jenstden.bsky.social: Former Green councillor Adrianne Carr says she resigned in 2025 in part because of remarks Sim made to her during an in-camera meeting

Politicians like Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim and Coun. Lenny Zhou who spread lies about a colleague for political gain undermine trust in our political system. They don't deserve our respect or votes, @adriennetanner.bsky.social writes.
Seems like the media should at least express some curiosity about this.

I've been told that Ken Sim told his team that a stranger waived a physical photo at him during a Chinatown event and falsely claimed that it was Orr dealing drugs on Christmas Day.
The mayor doesn't remember the specific contents or style of the photo, and can't remember who showed it to him.
yes and thank you for the excuse to share one of my all-time favorite tweets (from @longwall26.bsky.social)

Carneyβs aid package to Cuba is a nod to close ties between our two countries and another signal that Canada is not prepared to do the bidding of the US. But we could do more β helping power their grid would be longer lasting. www.nationalobserver.com/2026/02/25/o...

There are some troubling undercurrents. I worry that when leaders other certain groups, in this case immigrants, these kinds of sentiments can grow. immigrants thetyee.ca/News/2026/02...
I think countries have a right to set immigration levels. And I agree higher wages would take care of some labour shortages. What I object to is letting people in to work and treating them differently. Charging for services is abhorrent
I know what you say is true... I grew up in Edmonton and no one I know would support this.
The Alberta premier's anti-immigrant campaign is an assault on Canada's benevolent national identity. If Alberta wants to benefit from Canada β they are asking for a new pipeline after all β they must act like Canadians. www.nationalobserver.com/2026/02/21/o...
Where is Canada on this? Despicable treatment of lovely people.... We're happy to go lie on the beach, we should help now.
Most of the premiers in Canada have banded together to face down the threat posed by Donald Trump. Except, that is, for Danielle Smith, who has decided to turn her province's attention to the threat posed by....Ottawa and its immigration policies? www.nationalobserver.com/2026/02/20/o...
Brutal
As climate change melts the glaciers and makes droughts more frequent and prolonged, Canadians must become better stewards of water. Unfortunately, in many provinces, the opposite is happening. www.nationalobserver.com/2026/02/12/o...
The Supreme Court of Canada has overturned a one-vote win for the Liberals in Quebec's Terrebonne riding www.nationalobserver.com/2026/02/13/n...
I'm not a climate doomer, because that's what the powerful want. They want people to give up and say "it's too late."
Even if it is too late, I'd still rather the world decarbonize if only to fuck up the fossil fuel companies.
If you refuse to believe in a better future, at least believe in spite.
I meant exclamation mark. I thought it was superb
Read this morning. Great piece?
Holy cow, folks.
Archive link to a paywall read, but itβs an astounding op-ed with an outside perspective on American Olympians & the crisis of confidence in representing the βAmerican brandβ on the world stage.
This does NOT mince words. Wow. From the searing Jake Paul lede to the end: Oof.
Wild thing chewing something other than me. Which is good.
Absolutely
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is zeroing in on one horrific court case to demand Canada give her a say in the way Canada appoints higher court judges. This is cheap politicking that risks undermining trust in Canadian courts. www.nationalobserver.com/2026/02/05/o...
a brown wire-haired pup stands on a wooden deck in a grassy yard. he looks at us with golden eyes and his right ear flipped inside out. he has a pipe-shaped stick in his mouth, giving him the appearance of a sophisticated and dapper gentleman. just give him a deerstalker cap and a cloak, and he'd give Sherlock Holmes a run for his money.
This pup found a stick shaped like an old timey pipe earlier today and has already solved three mysteries. 13/10
Pinned lizzie johnson @lizziejohnsonnn Β· Aug 19, 2021 Almost three years ago, my editor called me early one November morning. A wildfire had sparked near a town called Paradise, he said. Could I go? (1/13) 0:02 / 0:10 lizzie johnson @lizziejohnsonnn Β· 47m I was just laid off by The Washington Post in the middle of a warzone. I have no words. I'm devastated. A publisher who lays off a reporter whose pen is freezing because she's covering a frigid war zone while dodging missiles is not an editor you want to work for, in a more perfect world
A must listen lecture about where the US is at and where itβs going. Not super optimistic, but no without a slover of hope youtu.be/6Z0zcG920n0
I know you've heard that a federal judge ordered the release of 5 year old Liam Conejo Arias and his father, and that they're now home.
But did you look at the judge's order?
It's less than 2.5 pages and well worth a minute. "Jesus wept."
