No, actually? Just learning about CB radio lingo and being Wistful.

They're under the stalhelms and capirotes!
You and me both. Jhin my beloved stop being in garbage games that genuinely give me an addictive rush to play
We threw a couple things we made into this. Hell of a good cause. If you've got anything you want to throw in, it closes in like a day so do that fast!
youtube shorts are eating my brain
It's absolutely, like, the way you're meant to play it, but approaching Sorcery! that way feels... wrong from a roleplay perspective, at least the way I experience it.
The Analander's objective in SH is just to cross them ASAP to get to Mampang: they no incentive to screw around like in other games

The spell system is a real highlight yeah! I really like how you have to actively _remember_ them, assemble random spell components, and all the fake spells that sound plausible but screw you over. The sort of magic system that only works without wiki-able design.
The Seven Serpents was my favourite one of all of them when I was a kid! TSS had a strong sense of place and objective. "Look through a whole city to find some dudes who might know a password but also you can't turn back or explore where you want" in KharΓ© vs "kill seven badass snakes"
An illustration of a Mantis Man by John Blanche, an insect-like human standing in front of its shack from KharΓ© - Cityport of Traps.
One unambiguous positive point is John Blanche's art though that stuff SLAPS.
It feels a bit annoying to be told "you need to get across this dangerous place ASAP also don't trust anybody" only to have most of the actual gameplay be locked behind dicking around, trusting random people and picking pointless fights, ya know?
Internal art for the Shamutanti Hills showing a whole mess of snakes.
It's obviously trying to capture the feel of a D&D party screwing around, getting drunk at every tavern and barging into every home. I'd probably have more fun with it if I played that way, but Sorcery! more than most feels like you shouldn't be doing that cause you're on a task that needs focus.
Cover for the Fighting Fantasy gamebook Sorcery! The Shamutanti Hills, by Steve Jackson. Illustration: a manticore looks kind of silly in front of some nicely drawn hills and caves, with a funny town in the background.
Been playing some Fighting Fantasy gamebooks (specifically the Sorcery! series) during work downtime, and it is interesting that the game REALLY wants you to play it like an idiot.
The Shamutanti Hills went super fast because my character didn't walk into every town yelling for someone to punch her
OKAY BUT THIS BOPS??!
Imagining that they still remember knowledge that's been forgotten or deliberately censored, so they have to pretend they don't know about rudimentary germ theory and the discoveries of the medieval Islamic scholars while the Puritans are hunting for witches.

oh shit was that a real one?
Heavy sepia toned photograph of two very young white kittens sitting in a cast-iron pan together. Text in the upper left corner says bubble and squeak.
