As much as I dislike xitter, folks like @amasad.bsky.social and others have been posting migration guides there and it does seem like it’s having some effect. Which I’m glad to see.
(Happy to share the links here!)

Given /r/BoneAppleTea is a thing…
Is this also kinda bimodal? The top engineers seem to be able to nab fully remote positions while others get forced back into the office
Thanks for sharing, this resonated a lot with me. I was a huge hater, still am in some forms but I’ve come around. It’s hard to find reasoned discourse about AI (too many people with vested interests in either direction) and this was a breath of fresh air. Hoping to see better discourse.
I see myself there 😅 thank you for hosting the event!
(Please come find me and say hi if you’re at the event, I don’t bite!)

Thank you! Much appreciated
Makes sense, thanks!
Isn’t part of the problem that we only have 2 parties?
good question! too many to tell. recent favorites in no particular order:
the stormlight archive
the broken earth trilogy
the daevabad trilogy (need to finish the third book...)
I did this in a work context before (when I felt I did nothing and it bummed me out); will definitely have to try it out in this context, thank you! This is fascinating to me — do you have any links handy that explain the science? (Can look them up so no worries)
Why should I as a reader read your stuff?
It’s a disservice and thus I refuse to write with AI.
Also, in a similar vein - I think and gather my thoughts by writing them out. If I’m not thinking, then who am I?
I really liked this - thank you for sharing. I do use AI in a number of places but as I mentioned in a past post - writing is sacred to me. I don’t get people who outsource their writing to AI…
Use it for feedback/critiques? Sure.
Use it for writing? Nah. If you can’t be bothered to write it..
Elon Musk has been a walking SEC violation for a decade and no one cared. The entire Trump era could have been avoided if the US took white collar crime anywhere near as seriously as it does low level drug crime.
I felt this one in my bones - it’s so so true
Looks like I finally need to read it.
My thought reading the excerpt was that it’s either fully true or the author has mental illness and made the whole thing up; because I cannot fathom an in between.
(And I’ve been leaning towards it being true)
I first read the headline only and misread it as “used” and figured it was a fair complaint …
Who the hell complains about an *unused* tampon?
(My prior employer used to have pads and tampons in the men’s rooms and I appreciated it, and their recent removal sucked)
I gotta be the one to ask: which fantasy books would you recommend?
(Thanks for this thread, I needed it)
I unfortunately can’t see the full thread anymore (due to the block) but the (imo valid) critique is: why focus on Obama and not [insert many other active politicians too]?
I’ve just skimmed this convo and the perspective here seems off, sorry - but even with the argument as written - why focus on Obama specifically (or Black people in general) while excusing all the people that *did* vote for fascism? Or the non black people that didn’t vote against?
I have no patience for this temporizing. People are being summarily shipped off into slavery in central america under the imprimatur of the US government right now. Canada—Canada!—is putting itself on a war footing. We’ve been off the map and in uncharted territory for the last 250 miles.
This is ghoulish. I mean, at least pretend to care about the innocent?!
so far I'm seeing a lot of universities respond to grant terminations with
"oh I guess now we don't have that grant anymore"
instead of
"your assertion of a grant termination is executive overreach, see you in court"
So, universities: respectfully, what the fuck?
I used to work for a company that had DoD grants and this will be devastating. Also for university science funding given the trickle down.
I hate those people with a passion to be quite honest. If we stopped making outlandish claims we could make some decent progress, but no - every technology has to be overhyped
I wish there were people talking more factually about positives *and* downsides, because it’s hard to evaluate something when there’s so much fluff out there and people making frankly ridiculous claims
I treat it like a drunk intern on their first day. It took me a year to “get” it but now I use it a decent amount.
I think it’s over hyped for complex, novel code (which I suspect you’re doing) but it does shine for repetitive tasks and I’ve spent a decent amount of time restructuring my work
What are you buying instead?
White people refuse to say the quiet part out loud so I will :
You think pointing out obvious racism, and anti sémitisme as a driving force for the administration makes you sound “crazy”
Especially in tech, journalism, and media
Because you watched Black people get called crazy for doing so.
