(2/2)... have Aidan, a former Rural Resources Fair participant, give an organic plug for our annual event!
We look forward to continue elevating the EMS cause at our fair on March 25 and beyond!
(1/2) Fortifying EMS in our rural areas has been a priority for us for the past three years, so it was nice to get a shoutout today when we were catching up on the NYS Association for Rural Health's community paramedicine webinar AND...
Welcome to the first-ever Finger Lakes Advocacy Day at the Capitol! Grateful to stand with advocates committed to protecting the health of the Finger Lakes for future generations, clean drinking water, and strong local economies.
Congrats to the New York Farm Bureau on another successful, well-attended Taste of NY event last night!
Farming has always had its share of challenges, and the past year has only seen added federal pressures as a result of tariffs and immigration policy.
The Comptroller has released a new report detailing the federal impacts on NY ag. Check it out here: www.osc.ny.gov/.../nys-farm...

Too many New Yorkers, especially in rural counties, struggle to find dental care closer to home because there arenβt enough providers. My bill, now law, allows dental hygienists to collaborate with dentists and deliver care without direct supervision. This change will help expand access.
Applications due by February 25--help to get the word out!
It's great to be back in Albany for the 2026 legislative session. I'm looking forward to a productive year focused on policies to lower costs while maintaining our commitments to the services that residents in the 48th Senate District rely on. A few of my priorities are highlighted in the video.
(3/3) This follows a bill from 2024 that created a similar relationship between doctors and physician assistants to expand access to medical care.
As we begin a new session tomorrow, we are keeping rural health care top of mind, and we are looking forward to hitting the ground running!
(2/3) In an effort to provide better access to dental care, @governor.ny.gov signed S.3157 (@rachelmayny.bsky.social) into law last month. The bill will allow dental hygienists to collaborate with dentists to provide dental care without the requirement for direct supervision.
(1/3) In last year's report on health professionals in rural areas, the Office of the State Comptroller found that ten out out of the sixteen counties studied had dental health professional shortages.
(2/2) We were excited to develop this bill and worked hard to get it to this point, and we hope that it will help our rural communities recruit talented, qualified public servants while making the job-seeking process easier for applicants.
Looking forward to a productive 2026. Happy Holidays!
(1/2) It's official! This past Friday @governor.ny.gov signed our Municipal Jobs Bill into law.
statejobs.ny.gov is being redesigned over the next couple of years, and in its final form, cities, towns, villages, and counties will be able to opt in to posting open positions on that platform.
I joined over 160 lawmakers urging Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick to release $42 billion in Congressionally authorized funding to expand internet access. Rural New Yorkers have waited far too long for high-speed broadband and deserve quick action. Full letter below. @ruralnys.bsky.social

(1/2) More news on innovative agriculture happening in NYS! Last week @governor.ny.gov announced $3 million in awards for the Grow-NY International Food and Agriculture Business Competition.
(2/2) We've had the pleasure of partnering with Cobleskill over the past few years, and this new chapter is forward-looking in the way it develops the ag. workforce of the future by incorporating technology and anticipating industry needs, all while providing affordable higher ed. opportunities.
(1/2) Congrats to @sunyofficial.bsky.social Cobleskill for launching their new Agritech Center yesterday!
(3/3) $25 million is now available in the first round, there is no match requirement, and awards between $50,000 and $3.5 million will be administered.
(2/3) Toward those ends, @governor.ny.gov announced today that DEC is accepting applications from municipalities, not-for-profits, and Indian Nations or Tribes for land acquisitions intended for conservation.
(1/3) Meeting our conservation goals serves several purposes: increasing climate resilience; protecting natural resources, including air and water; preserving biodiversity and farmland; expanding public access to nature; and safeguarding the character of our rural areas.
(2/2) We've just released a report summarizing the testimony from the hearing along with recommended policy proposals--you can read more and download the report at the link below!

(1/2) Harmful algal blooms (HABs) represent a growing threat to public health and local economies. Back in May, the Senate Committee on Environmental Conservation held a hearing to evaluate New York's existing policies meant to combat HABs and determine where we go from here.
(2/2) This will help make the State more efficient in protecting our natural resources, preserving wildlife habitats and ecosystems, and maintaining the character of our rural areas!
(1/2) @governor.ny.gov recently announced a memo of agreement between DEC and the Office of the AG to streamline the process for acquiring open spaces for land conservation.

Iβm introducing legislation to address the Federal Government's announcement that SNAP benefits won't be distributed in November. School districts are uniquely positioned to fight hunger by providing food to take home, ensuring families stay nourished if SNAP benefits are cut now or in the future.
(2/2) Ahead of the federal government's lapse in SNAP benefits on November 1, this brings the total for state-funded allocations for emergency food assistance to $106 million, helping to feed 3 million New Yorkers.
(1/2) @governor.ny.gov 's state of emergency announcement today includes $25 million in new funding for the Nourish NY Program, which supplies surplus agricultural products to populations who need them through the Stateβs network of food relief organizations.
