Map of projected temperature anomalies next Thursday across the western U.S. from the ECMWF ensemble. The entire map is bright red and pink, indicative of extreme to record-breaking March warmth. Some location will be 25-30F degrees above average, with a few locations warming over 35F (!) above average.
All signs continue to point to an exceptional, long-duration, and record-breaking to (in some cases) record-shattering March heatwave initially centered across U.S. Southwest but expanding to much broader region next week. This is effectively a full-on summer heatwave in March.

⚡️8th graders Amelie and Bejia from the Magnolia Project pitched in on some crucial emergency prep: tying bungee cords to our CD shelves so if the earth shakes, they don't shake out! It was a joy having them both to help out at the station!

Pop-Up Apostille Services Event Coming to the Civic Center - 1/21
Marin County's Clerks Office in collaboration with the California Secretary of State is hosting a Apostille authentication for individuals needing documents certified for use outside the United States. Staff will be on site to authenticate signatures on California vital records and notarized documents. This one-day event helps residents meet deadlines for travel, school, work, and legal matters abroad-without the long trip.
Typically, this service is only available in Sacramento and Los Angeles, so this pop-up is the closest resource Marin has had in a long time (aside from occasional events in San Francisco.
Apostilled documents can play a critical role - for example:
• Emergency Caregiver Authorization: If a parent is detained, deported, hospitalized, or otherwise unavailable, caregiver affidavits and custody/guardianship paperwork help ensure children are released to a trusted adult.
• Dual Citizenship: Apostilled documents can support processes for dual citizenship, which may provide additional protections for families.
When: Wednesday, January 21, from 9:00 AM-4:00 PM
Where: 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael Suite 233 (former cafeteria), second floor with free parking available.
⚡️Marin County is holding an “Apostille Pop-Up” at Civic Center today until 4pm. The County will certify vital records, dual citizenship, and emergency caregiver authorization to support residents. More: www.marincounty.gov/news-release...

The CPB is no more. For many of us, this was the logo that appeared before our favorite programs. It was more than a lifeline for hundreds of public stations: it was a symbol of this country’s belief that knowledge and culture belong to everyone. Its mission must and will live on. ⚡️ KWMR.org/support

A large blob of heavy rain is currently moving into NorCal, including in/near SF Bay Area. Given saturated soils, I would expect rapid rises on creeks & smaller rivers. Roadway flooding is also likely, esp. in low-lying coastal areas as tides remain higher than usual. #CAwx
