As health care costs continue to be unaffordable for families across the state, this conversation is an important step towards ensuring access to affordable care for every Michigander.
Join me for a town hall as we discuss MiCare, a proposal to create a universal, publicly financed health care system in Michigan.
Both projects are already underway, and without these funds, local communities would be stuck scrambling to cover these costs. That’s not right. When the state makes a commitment, our cities deserve certainty, not chaos.
In our district alone, this includes $1 million already promised for Warren to make critical ADA-compliant park upgrades and a long-overdue new elevator at the Hazel Park District Library.

Taxpayers deserve to know where their money is going, and I’m done with backroom deals that don’t put Michigan communities first.
I’m proud to be part of a bipartisan bill package to crack down on secretive, taxpayer-funded corporate incentive deals. If companies want public dollars, they should face real transparency, real oversight, and real consequences when they don’t deliver.
I’ve never been a fan of corporate welfare, but if the state is going to hand out taxpayer dollars, there must be strong guardrails.

Tonight marks the beginning of Hanukkah, a time centered on light, resilience, and family. As we celebrate, it’s impossible to ignore the rise in antisemitism we’re seeing across our country and here at home. Hate has no place in our communities.
I’ll keep fighting to get this money back and make sure our communities aren’t left paying for political games.
Some municipalities and organizations tell me they’d already signed contracts, placed special orders, paid deposits, or otherwise spent money expecting to be reimbursed from the funds the state had allocated and promised. Those groups are now scrambling and afraid they’ll be left holding the bill.
These weren’t abstract line items. This funding supports moms and babies, children with cancer, public safety, housing, local nonprofits, and community development — including projects right here in our own district.
I’m frustrated and deeply concerned that the Republican Speaker canceled $645 million in already-approved state grants this week, using an obscure loophole so neither the Senate nor the governor could block it.
