I hope youβll join us for this important and timely conversation.
Join us for a Know Your Rights Town Hall.
Weβll be joined by experts from the ACLU and the Michigan Immigrant Rights Center to talk through First Amendment rights to protest and free speech, including what your rights are when interacting with law enforcement, and to answer your questions.
Tonight! #HealthcareForAll
Iβm always grateful for the chance to hear directly from constituents and I hope you can join us! Please contact my office if you have any questions at mikemcfall@house.mi.gov or (517) 373-0140
As health care costs continue to be unaffordable for families across the state, this conversation is an important step towards ensuring access to affordable care for every Michigander.
Join me for a town hall as we discuss MiCare, a proposal to create a universal, publicly financed health care system in Michigan.
Both projects are already underway, and without these funds, local communities would be stuck scrambling to cover these costs. Thatβs not right. When the state makes a commitment, our cities deserve certainty, not chaos.
In our district alone, this includes $1 million already promised for Warren to make critical ADA-compliant park upgrades and a long-overdue new elevator at the Hazel Park District Library.
I am happy to see the Attorney General confirm what many of us have been saying all along: the provision allowing one chamber to cancel these funds was unconstitutional. www.crainsdetroit.com/politics-pol...

Taxpayers deserve to know where their money is going, and Iβm done with backroom deals that donβt put Michigan communities first.
Iβm proud to be part of a bipartisan bill package to crack down on secretive, taxpayer-funded corporate incentive deals. If companies want public dollars, they should face real transparency, real oversight, and real consequences when they donβt deliver.
Iβve never been a fan of corporate welfare, but if the state is going to hand out taxpayer dollars, there must be strong guardrails.
Each month, my office selects a teacher from our State House district to spotlight the incredible work educators do every day. Our schools, our students, and our community are stronger thanks to dedicated teachers like Laura. Thank you for making such a difference in the lives of your students!
I was honored to recognize Laura Shultz from Wilkinson Middle School in the Madison District Public Schools as Decemberβs Teacher of the Month!
This fight isnβt over, and Iβll keep pushing to make sure Michigan stands on the side of science. This harmful practice has no place in our state.
Iβm deeply disappointed by the court decision blocking Michiganβs ban on conversion therapy for minors. Medical experts agree, this practice is dangerous and has been linked to higher rates of depression and suicide among LGBTQ+ youth.

The MI Secure Retirement plan gives workers, especially at small businesses, a simple payroll deduction option, at no cost to employers or employees.
42% of Michigan workers donβt have access to a retirement savings plan through their employer. That's why I reintroduced my bipartisan legislation to help more Michiganders save for retirement.

May this Festival of Lights remind us to stand together, choose peace, and look out for one another. Wishing everyone a meaningful and peaceful Hanukkah.
Tonight marks the beginning of Hanukkah, a time centered on light, resilience, and family. As we celebrate, itβs impossible to ignore the rise in antisemitism weβre seeing across our country and here at home. Hate has no place in our communities.
Iβll keep fighting to get this money back and make sure our communities arenβt left paying for political games.
Some municipalities and organizations tell me theyβd already signed contracts, placed special orders, paid deposits, or otherwise spent money expecting to be reimbursed from the funds the state had allocated and promised. Those groups are now scrambling and afraid theyβll be left holding the bill.
These werenβt abstract line items. This funding supports moms and babies, children with cancer, public safety, housing, local nonprofits, and community development β including projects right here in our own district.
Iβm frustrated and deeply concerned that the Republican Speaker canceled $645 million in already-approved state grants this week, using an obscure loophole so neither the Senate nor the governor could block it.

Thank you to everyone at ICD for the invitation and for the compassion and commitment you bring to our region every single day. Here's to many more years of positive impact.
It was great catching up with Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist and so many friends and fellow elected officials from across Metro Detroit who came out to honor this incredible milestone.
Last night I had the privilege of attending the ICD - Islamic Center of Detroit's 25th Anniversary Gala. ICD has spent decades supporting families, empowering youth, providing food and resources to neighbors in need, and strengthening our broader community.

A project this big, the largest energy demand increase in Michiganβs history will have real impacts on residents and ratepayers, and people deserve honest answers and a chance to be heard. Michiganders shouldnβt be left in the dark on decisions that affect their communities and their energy bills.
