Throw away the freaking spy robots in your house.
You should absolutely do it!

If you're under 18 and doing indie audio drama - I love and support you but please watch out for people taking advantage of you! The AD space is as a whole really lovely, but there are bad apples here and they can be very charismatic.
This also goes for long-winded introductions and the two minute version of your theme song. The pilot episode proper should never be starting 5 minutes into the actual file.
a headline from the newsletter podcraft pointers that says 6+ hours per episode. Is that normal? ๐คฏ
please contact your doctor if your podcast lasts over 6 hours
Despite multiple explanations and demonstrations of what I do (audiodrama sound design), my grandfather stubbornly maintains that I can just call up Conan O'Brien and instantly have a cushy job. Because all podcasting is the same and that's how employment works, apparently.
wait, I can't just make a podcast that's a podcast and because it's a podcast people will give me loads of money?
with all disrespect to the brands, 30% off is really not all that exciting in this economy
Happy Unsubscribe Me From All These Damn Mailing Lists Day!
My favorites though are the folks pivoting who desperately promise it's actually visual, because your brain makes up images for the story, therefore we can actually call it a movie.
One of the fun things about tracking audiodrama crowdfunds is seeing how bad "Audiodrama" is defined. I've seen half a dozen "illustrated audiodramas," one guy that wanted to add CGI in later "to make it a proper show," a couple of straight up stage plays.
We're casting for Season 3 of Absolutely No Adventures! 2 Male Roles, both paid! Open until Dec 8.

Fiction Podcasters: The money we need to - ?
Startup: No, not that that.
Rendering the first pass of the only episode I've worked on that can be described as "actively hostile to the listener"
I raise you "$20/hour we actually use"
Depends on the structure? If it's one big interview stick it in the middle all at once. If there are natural breakpoints I'd probably prefer two separate 2 minute ad breaks.

Brad does INCREDIBLE work and you should hire them! I've never met a faster dialogue editor or someone more knowledgeable about obscure mics and plugins.
With a couple of projects wrapping up, I'm looking for more audio post work! If you need a dialogue editor, sound designer, or mixer for your audiodrama (or other linear media) and enjoyed Dead Space: Deep Cover, Shelterwood, or Absolutely No Adventures, let's talk.

If you have one or two lines for an episode and you submit an audio file that is like ten minutes long, I'm going with the first take.
I also blame James Oliva for this.
Hey #AudioDrama voice actors, we're opening up our rosters! Do you love horror, or blood curling screams? Then this might be the place for you!

I'm Marquiz Moore and I like making the noises!
So hire me for your wacky, nonsensical, casual, over-the-top, grounded, spooky, tougue-to-cheek, wink-to-the-viewer, not polished, announcer, talking to a best friend *inhale* projects! ๐ค

Someone's take along the lines of "in order to be indie it has to sound like it was recorded in a bedroom at best" has haunted me for years. There's absolutely no reason that independent creators can't make super polished work.

Ok, once again a reminder to audio fiction people:
An 'indie' show is a show that is made without a big studio or corporation backing it. Yes this includes The Magnus Archives and Old Gods of Appalachia. Being successful does not stop a show being independent.
