Im back, what have I missed?

Ventilation geek, raising awareness of incorrect installations leading to poor indoor environments that impact our health. Enabling change in the industry by raising standards and compliance. Straight talking, no assholes please..
Im back, what have I missed?
If you are able to demonstrate a ventilation strategy will work on a given dwelling, then it certainly could be approved. There are 4 main types listed in Approved Doc F. What we get hung up on are the minimum levels, rather than the outcome
You cant mix ventilation strategies. So MVHR will be required to cover the whole property. And yes, dMEV will need trickle vents of a mechanical supply of air.
Image showing behind a bathroom extraction ceiling valve. Dust, debris, bacteria and mould built up through years of poor maintenance. Whole house MVHR units are the lungs of your home.

Β£2.5K of airflow commissioning equipment. Resistance free for ultimate accuracy. Here used by our Apprentice Matt.
CO2 levels during my stay in a hotel room with no operational ventilation. The 2nd peak was the meeting room.
Commercial heat recovery unit installed at a primary school. They didn't have the money to maintain the units, so turned them off when they failed. One of 10 units at this school.
45 year old fire intumescent block. Fitted in an eldercare home. Totally forgotten about and creating excessive resistance to the extract fans costing more to operate and reducing efficiency. Major works now required! #ventilation
Another *expertly installed home ventilation system, signed off by building control.
What on earth!??
At Β£2.5k this powered airflow hood is the best there is! The ultimate accuracy and performance when commissioning MVHR systems
At BESA Council meeting in Wales. My first as London & South East Chairman. Passionate people who care for our HVAC industry.
Cheap flexible duct not cut to length before fitting an extract fan, just look at the condition outside, imagine what it's like inside. These corrugated sections cause turbulence, noise and breeding ground for mould & bacteria
Hands up if you always check ventilation grills wherever you go, I can't be the only one.... #ventilation #ieq
To add some context, this has occurred due to a complete lack of maintenance and the extract unit failed. Natural convection of warm air from the bathrooms below condensing inside the housing, creating this breading ground.
Todays communal ventilation inspection uncovered this rust / mould / bacteria growth! The extract unit isn't working, so natural air movement could allow air to carry spores from this growth back down the duct and into the flats! @cathnoakes.bsky.social
The Farmwood festive photo! Almost all the team out to celebrate the year and look ahead to Christmas.
Ever wonder about the air you breathe in hotels? Time to check more than just the bed! #HoteliAir Your Healthy Stay Checklist:
Tissue test on the bathroom extractor, working or not?
Look at vent grilles, clean or dusty?
Smell test β neutral or dodgy?

New brand logo incoming! Any suggestions for the slogan?
Building Safety Act + CDM 2015 are clear:
Poor ventilation = Category 1 hazard
Get it wrong:
β’ Criminal penalties
β’ Civil claims
β’ Director liability
Not just best practice. It's law.
Hard truth about ventilation in buildings: Β£1.4bn NHS spending on poor housing β’ 10k+ preventable deaths yearly β’ 65k homes with critical damp/mould β’ Kids breathing air barely under WHO limits. If it can kill when it fails, it's safety-critical. Simple as that!
We find all sorts in ductwork, but a can of beer in a domestic system! #mvhr #ductwork

Thanks Cath, I'll try and be more active on this platform.
Family holiday at a Belgium Center Parcs and this is the CO2 data from my Aranet Monitor. Located at pillow height on the unit in our bedroom. 2 people + dog with the window open. Did I sleep 'well' - err yes, but no, but.... #co2 #iaq
Here we go!!!
