Fwiw, from someone who has been in the industry a while, the pendulum swings back and forth on this. Not long ago it was fiction that was struggling. The trend will reverse. Broadly speaking, in dark times people read more fiction.

I’m cynical and think the big 5 would love to incorporate it as much as possible, wherever, to reduce labor costs. I have yet to see what I think is a good example of its use.
It’s being used increasingly in writing marketing copy and metadata refinement. My sense is that publishing houses have had a big gulp of the kool aid and it’s being pushed at upper levels and on down.
