Iβm excited for both books for different reasons. As much as I love Ackbar and Rebel/NR fleet stuff, I find the period of the early rebellion to be endlessly fascinating!! π

Getting a Rotta the Hutt film before a Rogue Squadron one wasn't on my SW bingo card, but hey, neither was having a series show Ackbar vs. Thrawn in its second season.
I know it's blurry but this is the widest map we got of Alpha and Beta quadrant space in #StarfleetAcademy (in "300th Night") so far. We already knew half of Romulan space is now Sarrotheyn space but the other half was taken over by the Ckaptir (2nd + 3rd pics: the species and their emblem).
I give the folks behind DISCO and Starfleet Academy a lot of kudos from restraining themselves from introducing the 32nd century USS Enterprise. Lord only knows what letter in the alphabet they are up to (I'm sure we're not far off from NCC-1701-Z, lol), but I do want to eventually see it.
This book is tied with Star Pilots as being my most anticipated SW books currently in the works!
Well, you're in for a treat!
Her energy with the actor playing Caleb was... interesting? I was watching with Caileen last night (who doesn't follow Trek in the slightest), she thought they had a strong sexual chemistry, only for me to say "that is his mom".
The former regions of Romulan space seem to be split between the UFP and the Sarrotheyns. The major former Romulan worlds along the old Neutral Zone border seem to be in the Federation. Considering we never saw what was on the backside of Romulan space, maybe the Sarrotheyns were always an adversary
Plus, there are other errors on the map. Memory Alpha is listed twice. Volnar, Free Haven, and Prophet's Landing all have (Bajor) listed after them. Which is weird.
So freaking happy with these maps!
It gets even weirder

I just love that thanks to me, you know what an Andorian is β€οΈ
Zoom into the UFP core and you're viewing like a 50-100LY region.
On the current galaxy map by Jason, a single square covers 5000LY of space.
I still have to remind myself of this. Which, in the case of Trek, I like. There is still A LOT to explore.
The funny thing is that Bothan Space is bigger than the entire region I highlighted by a loooong margin, lol
I'm not going to spoil the episode, but the red circle gives you a rough idea of Federation Space at this point in the 32nd century. There are worlds outside this region, but this is the core.
Still a long way from their previous borders in blue.
Iβm not able to take screen caps when Iβm on Paramount+. It blacks them out! But I am sure some Hi-Rez images will be posted online in the next couple of days
Interesting as well to see what worlds that were part of the UFP have yet to rejoin. Denobula appears to be independent. Ditto Bajor and Bolarus. It really appears that the Federation started stitching itself back together from the core of the founding territory, then outwards from there.
Today's episode answers A LOT of questions about the state of the galaxy in the late 32nd Century. We not only see Federation Space in detail, but Venari Ral Space as well! The Ferengi Trade Zone. Cardassian Space. A Klingon Zone.
SO MUCH DETAIL!
On today's episode of #StarfleetAcademy, we FINALLY get a close up of the core of the Federation Space! πβ¨
Best of all, it shows a distinction between blue dots (UFP members) and gray dots (neutral worlds in UFP Space)
Earth. Alpha Centauri. Ni'Var. Andoria. Tellar. Trill. Coridan.
We're back! π₯Ή
Maybe we will finally learn that Veers defected to the New Republic post-Endor...
A black holding cover for the book 'Star Wars: Star Pilots' by Chris Kempshall
Wedge Antilles from the Star Wars franchise piloting a snowspeeder in The Empire Strikes Back
βI have never wanted to suggest that my wartime experiences were any more important or heroic than any other pilot. But so many of them are gone now and I am still here. Their words deserve to be heardβ - Wedge Antilles

finally, you've done something meaningful for me.
thx bb π
Many congrats to @chriskempshall.bsky.social ππΌ
Chris is a FANTASTIC writer and I cannot wait to get my hands on this book.
For each Ackbar reference in the book, I will buy one copy.
Just saying... ππ
OH MY GOD π₯π€©
Graham is a spineless POS. He is like Wormtongue.
really tempted to put this in my work signature and see if anyone notices it
I'd be more impressed if Thrawn could spell or pronounce Verrinnefra B'thog Indriummsegh, tbh
Basically, give me the best spirit of the Stackpole/Allston X-wing books, but set in the current canon and with all the modern themes and elements that would make it really resonate with fans. Not Top Gun in space, but a deep, thought provoking, and character driven drama in space.
