🇺🇸Today is the nationwide strike to protest the abuse of power and lack of accountability of ICE. We’re proud to be open today as a small business and community space where people gather, talk, find new support systems, and attend events with their fellow humans.

My lovely friend from 🇰🇷 visited, friends from Kodiak came back, and we had 5 (or 6?) events! 🖤 I’m sure at some point capitalism will matter but, in the meantime, I’m so glad to have so many lovely people who frequent the space. Thank you! - Taylor

🎂🥳My birthday was RAD! The rowing machine and I had a great date at the gym, I showed up to a full bookstore, Chloé made me a crazy mathematically accurate birth chart table, Derek gave me a medical kit, the book club gave me hugs, and then I closed it out at Carinas where I had a terrific meal.🖤

🦃🥧History isn’t always pretty but we need it to learn. I think it’s relevant to have that discussion so we don’t glaze over our (very recent for Alaska) history without trying to make the future better.

🎃It was a spooktacular event at the maplespringsofpalmer tonight! 🔮I was the resident fortune teller and candy distributor!🍬

I was able to participate at this event because of the amazing friends I have in the community who requested it and bookstore friends to cover the space for me.

In Alaska, where overdose deaths are rising again, Narcan and community are a lifeline Overdoses have been declining nationally since August 2023, but Alaska is far behind in that progress

✈️Last week my dear friend Chloé babysat the bookstore for me so I could attend the Eradicate Hate Global Summit in Pittsburgh, PA. 👉Over 1,000 people attended to hear 200 guest speakers and learn at more then 60 breakout sessions and presentations.

I will soon be traveling to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for a conference. (More to come)

🎣 Saturday I was closed so I could go fishing for the first time since I was ten! Thank you to my Coastie buddy, Gabe for taking my husband, Max and I out on an adventure. 🌊🛥️ Dinner at The Highliner Seward was the perfect recharge before heading 170 miles back to Wasilla. ✨See you at the bookstore!✨

🥼🌎It’s always inspiring to see Bookstore Family when attending events! Last month I saw Neil Degrasse Tyson and last night it was Bill Nye The Science Guy! I brought a friend for the fantastic talk then had a late dinner at Humpy's Great Alaskan Alehouse. I saw 8 other people of the bookstore. 👨‍🔬🔭
