I think this is super valid. I was once told that “your friends are not your fans” and it has really stuck with me. I don’t assume that my friends automatically like my music, just as I don’t automatically like theirs so I think this is a good approach
Since it’s that time of year:
Your lack of inclusion in AOTY lists (or as many as you think you should be in) does not invalidate your art, nor lessen the value of your music to those who love it.
