Never feel more out of line with “sensible” centrist opinion than when it comes to armed conflict.
It’s the most dangerous and destructive thing we can get involved in. I think we should proceed very carefully. But lots of sensibles are utterly convinced they know right and wrong & need to fight.

I think if we’re going to argue success on raw vote share need to add that Social Democrat share went v slightly up & gained 2 seats. And they are currently polling below 2019 result.

One has to question whether the regime would be in this situation had Andy Burnham been allowed to run for the Islamic Consultative Assembly.

The Iranian regime needs a fundamental reset, stop spurning progressive voters and to set out a positive vision that makes clear what it stands for. Now is the time for PR and a progressive coalition

I’ve been feeling like this. Lifelong Labour voter. Never voted for another party. I’m definitely wavering in the locals

interesting that new Green MP Hannah Spencer talks almost entirely about public services, cost of living, NHS, the grind of making ends meet....
and hardly ever mentions ecological/environmental issues....
this is the pivot that scares Labour the most

Already seen some “we can’t upset the markets” self-sabotaging nonsense in response to the by election.
Financial market reaction is something an ambitious government plans for, not something that can be avoided through ‘better’ choices (unless the choice is to *prioritise* capital market players)

Great win for the Greens. After Caerphilly it’s obvious trouble for both Labour (losing its position as default anti Right party) and Reform (vulnerable to tactical voting).
Labour’s post GE positioning may turn out to have been an historically important strategic mistake.
The Labour Right owns it.

The anti employment rights etc stuff is obviously going to put off centre/left voters, but right-wing voters might feel differently. In a splintered electorate with no dominant party trying to build a solid 30% is not an obviously terrible idea.

Reform’s positioning today looks a bit inept on first glance. But I imagine the objective is to squeeze the Conservative vote and firm up its Right flank. Maybe Farage & Tice have concluded they can’t win any centre or further left votes currently so need to maximise their share of the Right.

Yep I completely agree that’s where the logic ultimately leads. I dunno if people are ready to hear it yet. But once you reassert some obvious trade-offs a whole lot of stuff built on top of the current model looks shaky.
Lower returns are the price of a lot stuff people want.

Yeah fair point!
I’m cautiously optimistic about what people choose when you let them choose. No-one starts at shareholder value maximisation, you really have to have that drilled into you by the system to believe it

The Reform party political broadcast was a bit weird. The music was really distracting as was the way the audio sometimes linked up with lip movements and sometimes didn’t.
All PPBs are a bit crap IMHO but this one was strange.

Constituency Polling for by-election in Gorton and Denton – Omnisis
pretty close between Greens, Reform and Labour in that order in this poll but big undecideds
