A family fled violence. A family sought refuge. A family followed the law—and was punished for it.
Lesly Rodriguez Gutierrez came to this country not to defy its laws but to seek their protection. She came not as a burden but as a mother. She came not to take from America but to ask of it the one thing it has always promised the world: that those who are persecuted may find here a sanctuary, and those who follow the rules may find here a home.
I am the father of two sons. I know what it is to want for them nothing more than safety and nothing less than justice. Lesly Rodriguez Gutierrez wanted no more and no less for hers. She fled a violent man. She protected her children. She obeyed every instruction given to her. What more could this nation have asked of her?
A Hayward mother and her two small children were deported to Colombia without due process and without her eldest son's assistive hearing device.
This is cruelty practiced in our name. Read my full statement here.

Wait - the corner of Olympic and Cloverfield, Santa Monica? Ladies and Gentlemen, that is almost exactly the location where the old Buffy offices stood. I believe we may owe thanks for this one to the Hellmouth.

OK frenz, random research. What aspects of the surveillance state creep you out the most, personally?
Could be specific products (Meta Glasses, e.g.)
Could be things they know about you (where you go, ovulation cycles, e.g.)
Could just be something you think they probably know! (GIF for a laugh)

U.S. May Have Committed War Crime In Sinking Of Iranian Ship
The Geneva Conventions say nations have a duty to “take all possible measures” to help rescue victims of shipwrecks. A U.S. submarine left that to Sri Lanka.
“The 312-foot Dena and its 130-member crew, many of them musicians in the Iranian navy band, had just finished participating in an Indian government naval exercise and cultural exchange that the U.S. Navy had also participated in and were on the way home on Wednesday.”

Two white nationalists I exposed in a recent article showed up to try to intimidate me in person last night.
This is a press freedom issue.
Here’s what happened:

My Washington State tax is going to go up and that's a good thing. We had the most regressive tax structure in the country for DECADES.

Did a chatbot built by Palantir and Anthropic tell US forces to bomb a school full of little girls in Iran? The evidence sure seems to point that direction. From Gaza to the Caribbean to Tehran to your own intestines, letting chatbots guide life and death decisions looks worse every day.

Markwayne Mullin is awful and corrupt for many reasons.
Not having a college degree is not one of them.
I know plenty of people W/O degrees who have more moral backbone, smarts, common sense, and compassion than at least half of Congress. Mullin isn't one, but not bc he did not graduate college.

I take my kiddo to school right down the street from where the Eaton Fire started, and a few of his classmates lost their homes. I have nowhere near the amount of skin in this as those classmates' families do, but … No. F–– off with this, it's ghoulish.

Markwayne Mullin is bad. AND we should celebrate Kristi Noem getting shitcanned. The fascists need the air of invincibility to succeed. Every time we take one down, it's a new hole in their narrative. Celebrate that we knocked ICE Barbie out, then get ready to fight the Cosplay Cowboy

"If we were in a relationship, I'd be the man in the relationship."
-Markwayne Mullin on his "new friend" Sean O'Brien, Feb. 2025.
Wonder if the Teamsters will stand up to DHS violating its members' civil rights or if Sean and Markwayne will just have a good laugh about it over cigars.

Opinion | Data Centers Are a Distraction. The Real Fight Is Elsewhere.
Sometimes Wallace Wells is just obtuse; years ago, it was "I don't recycle". Now it's this.
The whole country is rising up against data centers & the fights are producing environmental victories & it's changing the electoral landscape—yet it's a distraction? How does that work?

The number of things I discovered that I didn't expect to find is huge. The amount I learned—even if just looking at an index and scanning pages that seemed potentially relevant—is huge!
The internet has already ruined a huge part of this discovery process. Now AI wants to erase it completely.

I was recently describing my experience of college research to my kids.
-Come up with a question
-Ask librarian for advise
-Find a bunch of books in the stacks (including ones you hadn't originally been looking for)
-Sit and read for HOURS, including tons of stuff that wasn't immediately relevant!

❗This is a *NEW* GOP Nazi chat story, not that young R chat; this Miami campus R one is as vile...
“participants used variations of the n-word more than 400 times, regularly described women as “whores,” used slurs to talk about Jewish & gay people & mused about Hitler’s politics.”

Photo of Elon Musk's Nazi space company with headline that reads
"Elon Musk Says 'Yes' To $1.75 Trillion SpaceX IPO Valuation As Company Eyes Mars, Orbital Expansion"
Incredible that these outlets just keep printing his fart smells as facts after all these years.

What @timmiller.bsky.social and the Bulwarkers still don't seem to get is that the vast majority of gettable voters do not give half a slivered fuck about this stuff. And for the ones that do, if Talarico drives his strong core message, it crams this stuff back into perspective.
