Today two giant furry penises appeared while I was scrolling bluesky. I am curious what I could have done to earn this, and worried about what kind of people will end up on my feed if I allow this to continue.

An interesting catch-22, when you think about it. The internet allows unprecedented access to new ideas, but also an unprecedented ability to find people who will validate you and form an echo chamber with you. It might well be impossible to have one without the other.

Nearly every backwards step in the freedom of the internet has been because of platforms like Patreon and Youtube needing to be brand-safe. It's what happened to tumblr, give it time and it'll happen to any platform that doesn't somehow find a way to be self-sustainable.
