Don't shun people just because they have different beliefs about blotting out the sun to usher in a new age of eternal darkness. We have to find an answer in the middle.

This story just gets worse and worse, and it started at βwar crimeβ.
Should be the title of a rare Giallo film. Iβd pay over the score for a grey market DVD with burned-in subtitles in Flemish.
'Woman With a Bat in Her Hair' (Collage 3/26, Doug Campbell)
Nailed it!
2026 nuclear family memeβ featuring Fritzi as Neurodivergent Aunt, Sluggo as Sluggo, Nancy as Daughter, Nancy Jr as Woke Dog
I know, I know, I'm very old, but The Guardian? How did that happen? Steve Bell every day, Tony Benn, jumpers for goalposts . .
Thanks for the references, I knew just thirty cases was wishful thinking even as I typed.
This could be just thirty-odd fundamentalist head cases (that we know of), but even that many being comfortable about voicing such beliefs on duty is deeply disturbing.
Always understood that this was an underlying element in right-wing American thought, still shocking to see it as explicit policy.
Blackwood was an incredible character, and I think you've really caught him here. Look forward to seeing the finished portrait.
Odd. But, somehow, not in the least surprising.
Thank you! Sometimes, I finish a picture, and these imaginary sayings and idioms come to me.
βJust a Sleepwalkerβs Mile From Hereβ (Collage 2/26, Doug Campbell)
"Those who know do not speak. Those who speak . ." Etcetera
βThe Return of the Assassination Bureauβ (Collage 2/26, Doug Campbell)
Very on brand for Vice
'The Archive Whispers Softly' (Collage 2/26, Doug Campbell)
'Imagine Nine Doorways' (Collage 2/26, Doug Campbell)
Lot of nasty bugs going around. Look after your partner, and hope it gets better soon.
βFacing Down the Basiliskβ (Collage 1/26, Doug Campbell)
This is what we're dealing with. If there was any doubt left. Don't try and tell me it couldn't happen in the UK either.
'The Secret Commonwealth Knows No Borders' (Collage 1/26, Doug Campbell)
Seems to be about the size of it!
βIn the Quiet of My Roomβ (Collage 1/26, Doug Campbell)
Utterly bizarre, but a useful insight into how these creeps think, I suppose.
Great piece on a great story. Your thumbnail sketch of Smith as a writer is as sharp and insightful as anything I've ever seen.
Absolutely. There's the old Latin tag 'in media res' for chucking the reader into the middle of the narrative and letting them figure it out. Seems to me a lot of the SF/Fantasy I read was done like that, and it was part of the fun. Vampires bad. Blade fights vampires. What more do you need?
Love this! Thanks for sharing.
This is it. This is what this means. A statement of intent.
