Can't they still get this information publicly? I gave early support to candidates a couple of years ago. Now my text messages and emails are spammy hell. That's why I stopped giving to policitians.
I saw a bumper sticker with this on it about 20 years ago and have thought about it when I am in/ am being traffic ever since
Introducing the SHUT UP Act, a bill that reduces harmful noise exposure and eliminates vehicle nuisances by making it a misdemanor to:

Available repair centers & other post-sale support. Thatβs the dealershipsβ entire argument for exclusivity. No matter that no one wants to see a car dealer any more than they absolutely must.
Only Lucid and Rivian? So the next exciting new car company has to fight this fight again? Walen is right that we shouldn't pick winners and losers. I know she's trying to stop all progress, but we should stop meddling in commerce. Define the necessary consumer protections and get out of the way!
Patrick, I'm the Mayor of a city, not the whole country.
This might go towards explaining why most of Bellevue's sidewalk retail is occupied by banks. You want to pop into a boutique to pick up something cute? Drive to the mall. You want to open a checking account? Sure, you can do that on your casual stroll through the city.
And even then, it takes a year sometimes.
I'm kinda surprised that's how they failed first! I'm on my third pair of Aftershokz. Great headphones, well worth the money, but I get electrical/speaker issues before the frames give out.
Good piece on the βbrain drainβ from the U.S. and the history of its βbrain gainβ. For the moment, while the numbers might be up, it looks like the real loss is in talented junior and future scholars, rather than senior βstarsβ (as most of these programs are not competitive for the latter).
We'd better get through this war quickly or it could hurt FIFA's profits! We wouldn't want to endanger the kind folks who gave Trump the FIFA Peace Prize.

Amazon is no longer (Lesser) Seattle's biggest employer. Amazon has fewer than 50K employees working in the city proper. The UW has just over 50K.
Amazon has vacated seven leased buildings in Seattle since 2020.

NEW STORY // Op-Ed: Nobody Wants to Live Next to a Highway

Yes, the south end has historically gotten a raw deal. But from the hinterlands of Bellevue, I love that Issaquah actually wants transit. Bellevue was ridiculous about transit. Kirkland (my "second suburb") is far, far worse about transportation overall. Redmond & Issaquah are a breath of fresh air.
Issaquah is a bunch of nowhere with some good qualities: Village Theatre and that all-night pharmacy included. But per official US Census data (from 2024), Issaquah is less white than either Tacoma or Seattle. Rich, sure. White? No.

I can attest: years back I was followed by cops when driving my tiny decades-old pickup truck to Wells-Medina nursery. (Never stopped, cuz I drive like a bike rider.) The cops stopped magically appearing once my truck's plates were "known". This never happened to us in our Subaru.
At least the route goes near your destination!

I think it's great to allow services throughout the city, not just hotels. But for hotels specifically, having a room to rent near your house makes having out of town guests easier. You don't have to have three extra bedrooms just in case you have company. Just rent a room for your family visitors!

Shelly Short's term in District 7 ends this year. No one has filed to run against her yet: the funding deadline is May 8th. When a candidate appears, let's get this woman out of office.

While you're at it, take a moment to thank Cindy Ryu, who wrote the wire theft bill (housedemocrats.wa.gov/ryu/) and Tina Orwell, the Senate sponsor (senatedemocrats.wa.gov/orwall/).

Frustrated that wire thefts keep taking out ST Link light rail? You have WA Sen Shelly Short, Republican of the Okanogan, to thank for the failure of our wire theft bill to progress this session. Call her office to let her know how you feel!

Roberts, Gorsuch, and Barrett were in the 6-3 majority, joining the Sane Women Wing of SCOTUS (Sotomayor, Kagan, and our amazing Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson.) "I like beer!", "I like motor coaches", and "I love my mom" were in the minority.
