I'm still kind of choked up. You can still watch!
Congratulations to all with work shortlisted for the BSFA Awardsโincluding Story Hour guests @taracampbell.bsky.social, @thomasha.bsky.social, @foxesandroses.bsky.social, and @wtalabi.com, plus upcoming guest @genni.bsky.social! You are awesome! #BSFAAwards2025 www.bsfa.co.uk/bsfa-awards-...
Had a lovely time with the folks at @storyhour.bsky.social last night -- I read from "The Visitors," which riffs on a future with my characters from "The Only Song Worth Singing," and then we all heard a remarkable tale by @jenniferhudak.bsky.social -- a great evening all around!
If you missed last night's @storyhour.bsky.social , you can still watch it! I read "Written on the Subway Walls," a story that always makes me a little bit emotional--and even more so after listening to @randeedawn.com read her gorgeous story!
The resonance there was spooky, but so so good.
Often a thread emerges between author guests' readings on Story Hour. This time, it was (in two different ways) an underground railroad blocked off by prejudice. @randeedawn.com and @jenniferhudak.bsky.social read exceptional tales, and the hour ends with hope. Unmissable. youtu.be/lu8CA9VT8bI
This is a great pairing for tonight's Story Hour reading! Go watch 'em at 7pm PT! I'll be packing for my 20th anniversary trip instead, so go on my behalf!

Color photo of writer Randee Dawn, a fair-skinned woman with large blue eyes and blonde hair worn long and curled, with bangs. She wears a black dress with white cuffs and sits in front of a blurred background of leaves. She smiles tenderly at the camera, perhaps because she is holding a red fox to her chest. The fox is looking around.
Head-and-shoulders color photo of writer Jennifer Hudak, a fair-skinned woman with straight, gray-threaded brown hair worn at shoulder length. She wears a brownish-red top with crochet sleeves and poses before a blurred interior background that includes tile wall and light wood. Her shoulders are square to the camera, but she looks up and to one side, smiling warmly.
This Story Hour, two favorites return! Randee Dawn and Jennifer Hudak help us bid goodbye to this sanest time of the year (Standard Time). Join us for Story Hour Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. PST! @randeedawn.com @jenniferhudak.bsky.social www.storyhour2020.com
Excellently spooky, and with a beating heart. Go ahead and watch!
Two very different kinds of hauntings delivered via StoryHour last night!
This Story Hour, Ai Jiang and Cynthia Gรณmez showed us what horror stories can do. We started with a heartbreaking ghost story and ended with hard-hitting social horror. You can still watch! @aijiang.bsky.social @cynthiasaysboo.bsky.social youtu.be/QLbAuC6vQOI

So, so, so good!
Head-and-shoulders color photo of author Cynthia Gรณmez, a woman with fair skin and clear light-brown eyes. Her long, curly hair, which dark and threaded with silver, is parted on the side. She wears a purple tank, long earrings, and minimal eye makeup. She stands in front of a plastered wall and looks directly into the camera with a faint smile.
Head-and-shoulders color photo of author Ai Jiang, a woman with fair skin and dark eyes. A breeze stirs her long, glossy hair, which is dark with a dyed light-blue streak and parted on the side. She wears a windbreaker that might be dark green and stands in full sunlight, with water behind her and a few trees in the distance. She looks to the side and slightly down, grinning at what she sees.

We love you, too! So proud of our guests!
We DO get phenomenal guests!
Isn't it, though?
Funny, that's the same word I use to describe such lists from a reader's point of view: wealth!
Everyone else doubtless feels the same!

Literally less than half an hour, but so I think I needed that extra thirty minutes just to recover. You can still watch!
A devastation that felt at once very personal and very, very widespread.
This SF-focused Story Hour may be our shortest ever, but it's just as powerful as any longer one! Meg Elison and Kemi Ashing-Giwa brought us tiny tales with big ideas under personal microscopes. An essential half-hour of stories! @megelison.bsky.social @kashinggiwa.bsky.social youtu.be/mPXDRKZleGw
It was an incredible evening. Also one of our shortest Story Hours yet. So much power in such short stories!
