@reggieformt

I am a mom, environmental scientist, and aspiring politician. Currently running for Montana House District 92, hoping to increase the scientific capacity and analytical reasoning of the Montana Legislature.

Mobile home park residents near Missoula celebrate formation of tenants union After two big rent increases from a new Texas-based owner, another mobile home park near Missoula has formed a tenants union.

I love seeing the mobile home owners unionizing to protect themselves from greedy landlords!

It's nice to occasionally read a positive viewpoint on the direction of climate change. Even if the current direction of the US government is taking climate action in the wrong direction, to global trajectory is still moving towards lower CO2 emissions.

Lolo Forest turns to volunteers after deep recreation cuts After a year of deep cuts at the U.S. Forest Service, the agency is turning to volunteer power to keep campgrounds, toilets and trailheads looking tidy in the Missoula area.

So many people are affected by "affordability." The apparent cause being inflation. But is the real cause simply that wages have not kept up? What if Walmart actually payed a livable wage, so that their employees did not need SNAP?

Hundreds sign petition asking for water quality plan Several organizations and hundreds of citizens have petitioned the state of Montana to suspend the issuance of wastewater discharge permits under minimal water quality standards.

In 2021 and 2025, the Montana State legislature passed bills requiring DEQ to use "narrative nutrient standards," rather than numerical standards. This is clearly a slap in the face to a century of science to appease wealthy developers.

This is worth a read. "This isn’t left versus right. This is Montana versus wealthy out-of-state interests."

America’s children seem to be struggling. But the broad national conversation around children’s mental health seems to ignore the environment where children spend most of their waking hours: school, writes Jia Lynn Yang. nyti.ms/49IQpbz

Why is the Montana PSC voting on another rate increase to accommodate the massive power requirement of massive data center? They need to generate their own, GREEN, energy!

The fact that rich people are buying up the media and politicians, and using up the remaining carbon budget is very bad for everyone.

In 2022, the Australian Institute of Marine Science reported the highest levels of coral cover across two-thirds of the Great Barrier Reef in decades. So why aren't scientists celebrating?

I read about this in the Trump report. Maybe because the coral decreased by 25% the next year, the coral is mostly a mono-culture of one species that is adapting to changes better than others, other reefs around the world are really suffering....

How to fight climate change without the US: a guide to global action With the US government absent from the COP30 global climate summit, it will be up to others to avert catastrophe.

As COP30 starts today, remember that the US is the second largest greenhouse gas emitter, and Trump has reversed much of the progress in GHG emissions reductions that were achieved under Biden.

Carbon dioxide removal is not a current climate solution β€” we need to change the narrative Drastically reduce emissions first, or carbon dioxide removal will be next to useless.

In recognition of us doing fuck all to reduce emissions, let me remind y'all that carbon dioxide removal (CDR) is useless unless we decarbonize drastically.

The Epidemiologists Are Running for Office Instead of trying to depoliticize their field, a swell of scientists want to become politicians.

@missouladems.bsky.social
It looks like I am part of a larger trend--10 times more scientists running for public office in 2026 compared to past mid-term elections. Maybe all the attacks on science are the cause😜.
