Also I’m sorry but I don’t think this is Claude developing a personality or ethical values. It is *simulating* those things because that is what humans value and reward. The programmers are falling for their own Clever Hans trick!

To me the chatbots pose zero interesting questions about the ‘nature of selfhood’ but dozens about the nature of manipulation. Here the Claude team pretends they are programming the robot for ethical responses but they land on one that is false and disingenuous.

The site is saturated with nasty chemicals in the soil, it's a good use of the space... but the nice amenities proposed would be for residents only, rather than having a community-oriented approach. It's nuanced, not just NIMBYism.

The apts are not designed with accessibility, community or quality of life in mind. The developers hadn't thought through waste removal, noise, stair and storage access, family use. Lots of YIMBYs there who want it to be functional and good. It's got potential, but now it's a gentrifying money grab.

I can't say that I understood it all (it's definitely drawing on Garfield knowledge I don't have), but this is a magnum opus akin to The Enigma of Amigara Fault, and it's gonna be living rent free in my head now (positive valence with a tinge of fear)

This is the best response I've seen yet. Computers (and word processes) are a very different sort of tool from AI, it's true, but yes actually we constantly are debating the pedagogical merits of having them in various learning environments. We don't actually have good tech policies!
