Hey all I'm looking for work!
I'm experienced in character design and costume for games and film as well as illustration for books and TTRPGS. I'm based out of BC Canada looking for freelance or full time. My portfolio is linked in the first comment, thank you for shares!
How's it going so far? I'm eagerly trying to wrap up Avowed so I can move over to RE9.
April is going to be expansion month on TCbH, with reviews, interviews, top 10s and other discussion focussing on the good, bad, and ugly of expansions. In service of that, just recorded a lovely interview with Jamey from @stonemaiergames.com over lunch I'm stoked for y'all to see! #boardgames
Just posted our review of Gods & Mortals, a cool upcoming blend area control and divine stock trading. Killer presentation on this one. #boardgames

Our boy grew up a little, playing his first legacy game where he had to do what he was always told not to, destroy a card.
He told me this morning βdad, as a Pokemon collector, that felt MISERABLEβ.

Holy snacks and crackers. Updated my laptop only to find out Final Cut Pro is now on a monthly fee. Looks like I'm gonna be learning out to use Davinci Resolve!
Thatβs such a good idea! Iβve also taken to labeling items replaced by an expansion, putting it in a baggie with an index card.
Basically if thereβs content Iβm pretty much always gonna use, I donβt want the replaced items cluttering the access (though I canβt bear tossing them).
Iβm looking forward to trying it. Sounds fun!
Completely agree, thatβs a nightmare! I kind of feel like Dune Imperium fell into this with the Bloodlines expansion. Some worked with the original game, some worked with uprising, none of it worked completely without the other.
Thatβs a good point. Iβm a Root completionist myself as well.
Weβre working on a project for April focusing on expansions. How do you feel about board game expansions? Do you have a preference in kind of expansions? Has an expansion ever made you want to break out a game less? #boardgames
The βtrimmed down version of a larger euro gameβ is a tale as old as time, some attempts better than others. Todayβs vid takes a look at Ark Novaβs slender sibling; Mathias Wiggeβs Sanctuary. @capstone-games.com @feuerlandspiele.bsky.social #boardgames

I could see that, though honestly I canβt compare to higher player count. We ended up seeing and doing a lot in our game but it felt like we still had to make tough choices in our focus so I enjoyed it.
Yooooo Endeavor: Deep Sea, Iβm sorry I didnβt believe the hype! A friend picked up a copy and we had a great time with our first play of competitive mode, honestly it reminds me of early plays of spirit island where I just want to explore the systems. Hope to play it more and try coop/solo soon.
New Puscifer album rules. Artsy, heavy, ethereal, and the right level of not taking itself seriously. Hoping to get my copy of the new Gorillaz album soon, too. Iβm holding off streaming so I can go in blind.
Facts. I nearly made that mistake last night!
Tis the season for our annual chocolate egg Wingspan plays.
LETS GOOOO Thank you for the incredible review!!!!
Definitely got some engineering updates to make the tower ALOT less finicky~
Omg mail came in and Propolis is so much smaller than I expected. I didnβt know much about this game until a recent convo with @flatoutgames.bsky.social and looking at some table shots online. Iβm really loving the packaging and all the more excited to play.
Just posted our first look at Re;MATCH, a lovely joint by @brotherminggames.bsky.social inspired by the likes of Puzzle Fighter & Match 3 games. Their crowdfunding campaign launches today!

First off, congrats! Second off, sorry you're having to deal with this Marceline.
I am very proud of TCbH and the relationship I've made with so many creatives in the industry, including receiving tons of games from publishers for fair, honest critique. I just wonder if taking that next step to something bigger wouldn't cost me the love of doing it in the first place.
Don't get me wrong, I don't judge others for doing paid previews, sponsored content, etc... But it's not for me. It's just things like this exposing the backend of the industry reminds me that my choices can limit growth (or maybe that's just an excuse).
And I'm not saying that either channel doesn't have those things at their core, but over time I've learned I hate "the game" associated with social media growth and content creation, same as not accepting payment for coverage or paid sponsorship.
Man, the @gamenightpicks.com & @watchitplayed.bsky.social drama is so disheartening because whatever else, it underscores how much paid promotion and investment in engagement matters.
It's my own naivety that hard work, consistency and authenticity is enough for a review channel to break through.
Good tradition!
Yeah! One game not on the list is War Chest (the app cuts off the grid at 5x5), a favorite of my son and I. Hoping the Nightfall Expansion restocks sometime!
Thatβs a wrap on February yβall! What #boardgames did you get played?
