Communities across the UK are taking action today and tomorrow to #StopDirtyDataCentres. They'll use energy, land + water that should be for people, not big tech.
In Brick Lane, London, they plan to build a new data centre instead of social housing 🤯
Moratorium now!

Data Centres Threaten UK Climate Targets
Big Tech’s plan to build more hyperscale data centres is putting the UK’s climate targets at risk.
Developers’ own figures indicate that emissions from just 10 planned UK data centres will release 2.7 million tonnes of CO² each year, wiping out annual CO² savings from the switch to EVs.
Big Tech’s ambition to build more data centres is putting the UK’s climate targets at risk, and the Government is letting them.
It is estimated that more than 100 data centres are planned across the UK, the largest of which would consume more electricity than double all the households in Wales.

The Government has acknowledged that it made the wrong decision in allowing the data centre to go ahead without binding commitments from the developer on how they would reduce its environmental impact and agreed that the Secretary of State’s decision should be quashed.

92% of people burning wood in the UK already have another way to heat their home, but many are choosing to install wood burners for lifestyle or aesthetic purposes – inadvertently putting the health of their family and local community at risk.

"When we had people come round and if they had asthma or any respiratory problems, we found that we couldn't use the wood burner.
And then I started thinking well, maybe I shouldn't be using my wood burner as much as I do. And that was when I did a bit more reading and heard more about how wood burners operate."

Let's clear the air logo
It’s #CleanAirNight! Did you know that wood burning contributes to serious health conditions for people across the UK? Wood burning smoke produces fine particulate air pollution (PM2.5), which can cause heart & lung disease and increase your risk of diabetes and dementia when inhaled.
