The genius of Jim Sidanius was (among other things) identifying social dominance orientation as a way that people approach the world.

I am thankful that I got to talk about these papers in tandem. They feed off of each other by crafting a stronger framework for implementing EFFECTIVE equity efforts.
Merrick Osborne, assistant professor of organizational behavior at the Cornell University ILR School, says: βManagers donβt always ask βhow are my decisions about whoβs hired and whoβs fired situated in a broader social context?β Decisions are not just influenced by the information directly in front of us. Societal influences and pressures seep into the thought process, ultimately generating biases that shape decision-making.β A lack of attention to intersectionality can βsometimes result in initiatives failing large portions of the groups they are purportedly designed to help.β
A pair of research papers co-authored by @merrickosborne.bsky.social, assistant professor at #CornellILR, examines why some DEI initiatives succeed while others fall short. The papers also suggest how to design more effective efforts.

In this commentary, we discuss why and how the study of affective experience and affect regulation would benefit from greater integration of diversity science--or, "the study of the interpretation and construction of human differences."
This is AMAZING!!! Congratulations!!!
I debated writing this. It can feel tempting, upon encountering yet another instance of this administrationβs racism, to let it be. How many ways can you say the same thing over and over again? And yet we have to write it down, if for nothing else, so those who come after us know we were against it.
Iβve seen so many people spreading the misinformation that PBS is shut down or is shutting down.
The Corporation for Public Broadcasting has been shut down and PBS has been defunded.
HOWEVER!!! PBS still exists. It is more important now than ever that you donate to PBS if you can.
The fall is upon us!!!! Get organized!!!
