Soham murderer taken off life support and close to death, BBC understands
The convicted murderer has been in hospital since late February after being hit on the head in prison.
The recipient of at least two violent attacks whilst in gaol will have made his time inside particularly dismal, a plight hinted at by a failed suicide attempt early on in his sentence.
Yet my feeling is heβs got off lightly, having only served twenty-four - albeit miserable - years.

Hi @jennifermckiernan.bsky.social
In your article regarding Mr Yusufβs partyβs proposal published today the first image is captioned describing him as βShadow Home Affairs Secretaryβ. I know I may be mistaken on this but isnβt the term βShadowβ¦Secretary reserved for HMβs Official Opposition?

Itβs not particularly clear in your repro but my favourite, excitement-inducing part of the poster is the proudly displayed illuminated advert for getting the Underground to Brighton in 15min or Glasgow in 2hr45. Iβm less enamoured by the Bovril promotion above however.

Concur completely! And of course yesterday was the first anniversary of Janeyβs death, but today (and all this week) Ashley is a contestant on Richard Osmanβs House of Games.
Iβm assuming the family are unlikely to see this but I hope they know how much Janey is still missed, and by so many of us.

A mini tribute to the very much missed @janeygodley.bsky.social on this weekβs Have I Got A Bit More News For You. I donβt think Iβm misinterpreting the expression #SuePerkins showed if I suggest it was humour presented with sincere warmth & respect for Janey.

Front cover of 'The New Dawn', journal of the Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers, January 1967. The cover photo is of a long haired floofy cat sprawled on the floor. The floof has been photographed simultaneously chewing and biffing a long piece of ribbon.
Inside page of 'The New Dawn', January 1967. It features the new year message of Harold Wilson, then the Prime Minister, with the title '1967 - a chance to move forward towards the New Britain'. A photo of Wilson looking straight at the camera whilst holding a pipe is in the top right corner.
Extract from inside page of the January 1967 edition of New Dawn. The only explanation for the cat-themed cover photo is the credit: "Our cover photograph "... after the night before"
Today's #Archive30 is #ArchiveAnimals, so time for a short 𧡠on Trade Union Cats...
This 1967 cover star of the USDAW magazine 'New Dawn' outshone the Prime Minister, whose new year's message was relegated to inside pages. The floof was captioned "...after the night before" for unexplained reasons

Metal clock face on stone church tower has leached residues of various colours, staining the wall below and giving the superficial appearance of it having melted.
I wonder if the clock on St Catherineβs church tower in #Montacute, Somerset was designed by Salvador #DalΓ.

Apple AI tool transcribed the word 'racist' as 'Trump'
Experts have questioned the company's explanation that it is due to the two words being similar.
Iβve been a sanctimonious Mac head for several decades now and here is a perfect example of why: in relative terms at least, Apple products simply work. Properly. Correctly. Accurately.
