The programme tackled key challenges in today’s world of work: workers’ data protection, algorithmic transparency, and role of trade unions in shaping fair and responsible AI at work.
Today I took part in the first study group meeting as co-rapporteur for the Apply AI Strategy at the @eesc.bsky.social
We had a very constructive discussion with the @ec.europa.eu and civil society, focusing on the key social, ethical and technological challenges of AI.
Over 40% of EU workers already face algorithmic management, shaping how tasks and people are evaluated. At the @workers-eesc.bsky.social conference at the @eesc.bsky.social, we discussed how to keep AI at work transparent, accountable and human-centred as the EU advances the AI Act and Data Act.

Trade union representatives from Poland, Czechia, Slovakia and Hungary met in Gdańsk to discuss collective bargaining, fair working conditions and socially just transitions in our region.
This week in Vienna, trade unionists from across EU came together to mark the World Day for Decent Work under the slogan “It’s time for the EC to take action for quality jobs.” organised by the European Trade Union Confederation @etuc-ces.bsky.social , focused on the upcoming Quality Jobs Act.

The Slovak Confederation of Trade Unions organized a protest against the unfair consolidation package, which once again places the heaviest burden on workers. We thank our confederation from European trade unions, as well as the @etuc-ces.bsky.social and @ituc.bsky.social, for their solidarity.

This week at @etui.bsky.social EduDays, we hosted a panel at the ELA in Bratislava: “Empowering Democracy Through TU Education in a Digital Era.” We discussed how education can fight disinformation, rebuild trust in democracy, and prepare workers for the digital age, including the challenges of AI.

While summer often slows things down, the European House in #Bratislava was buzzing with energy yesterday! Over 30 youth reps, unionists, experts & EU officials joined the roundtable “EU Youth Test – a new approach to youth participation in policymaking.” 🗣️
After more than three weeks of an intense and courageous occupational strike, the basic trade union organisation at GeLiMa in Slovakia has reached a meaningful and fair agreement with the employer. Our thanks also go to @etuc-ces.bsky.social for its consistent support of our member organisations.

Nearly 600 ECCO Slovakia workers face mass dismissal after years of service—without fair severance or dialogue. Workers protested for dignity and justice. Thanks to @etuc-ces.bsky.social for standing with them: "Their demands are a moral and social minimum."
Today I met Violaine Lucas from the French organization Choisir la cause des femmes. We discussed feminism, equality, and the role of civil society. A strong source of inspiration for our work on gender equality and empowering women in trade union structures.
At the historic Gdańsk shipyard, cradle of Solidarność, we discussed crisis preparedness from a workers’ view. Workplace as a real anti-crisis shield, stronger public services & dignity for all. Part of the Workers' Group mtg under the Polish EU Presidency.
Europe Day 2025 in #Košice, where we discussed the role of organised civil society at the @eesc.bsky.social stand. Great to hear the Slovak Youth Council knows the EU Youth Test and even made a podcast about it. Big thanks to the organisers @europarl.europa.eu and @ec.europa.eu for a great event!
