Now in Aachen where of course on the german side there is no mobile signal and they fixed the wifi portal. But I still wonder why it is so often broken.

And I can confirm that the 3.7.1 release runs very nice and smooth with an RX 6900XT eGPU. Nice work.

There is a community made tool called Envision that helps compiling and running it if you are interested in a less manual setup. Also the environment variable STEAMVR_LH=1 on monado-service will make it use SteamVR's closed source lighthouse tracking, which is generally more usable.

Wero so far has been absolutely exclusive to android and ios apps.

I'm told there are some banks in the netherlands that do have a web interface for ideal and don't require an android/ios app. Whether they will actually keep this functionality when joining Wero is not officially answered afaik.

SDL won't tell you about all the underlying OpenGL stuff, but all (?) the platform OpenGL APIs have ways to query the "current" gl context, window, etc., so if you query those right after initializing SDL, it's unlikely to not work.

Wie gut funktioniert Wero noch, wenn Trump Google sagt, mittels play store und Google Play Protect alle europäischen banking apps von Smartphones zu deinstallieren und die Play Integrity API alle Smartphones mit Google Play in EU als unsicher zu deklarieren? Apple hat vmtl auch ein Äquivalent dazu.

Banking apps are supposedly like 50:50 whether they run without google play and can change this without warning or recourse, even if you use a gray method to get the app in the first place, eg forum.volla.online/viewtopic.ph...
Personally I never used one of those apps and don't plan to.

But are they concerned about the supposed alternatives being - officially - exclusively accessible from american app stores that - officially - require an account with them and are only accessible with smartphones that run proprietary software with full system access?

Today the first ICE from Stuttgart to Frankfurt had 41 minutes delay and I missed the ICE connections. Had to wait 2 hours for the next ICE because can't take the Eurostar instead. The next ICE stranded in Aachen, again can't take the Eurostar instead.

Also can @deutschebahn.com *finally* make an agreement with @eurostarnews.bsky.social that travelers *can* use the other one without buying a new ticket if the ICE connection between Frankfurt and Bruxelles fails?

I'm not against entertainment for kids of course. But why are we abandoning any quality standards for entertainment and are now training children to get addicted to wasting hours on slop that has nothing to say? Is this why mainstream movies are getting worse too?

On this train there's a young child getting her brain cooked by youtube kids the entire way from Frankfurt to Bruxelles. Older people have always complained about the habits of the young but I can't help but feel that this is different and that brainrot content is genuinely hazardous to our brains.

Can @deutschebahn.com maintenance maybe make sure that the ICE train onboard electronics don't produce obnoxiously loud noise for hours on end? It seems to be quite common in the door areas, less in the seating area, but trains are quite often full enough that people are there too.

I forgot I can click the profile button. Turns out it's just GC. Every few seconds it takes several seconds of this CPU usage.

My guess is too that it will be just a mirror of a full offscreen plasma session. But I'm also curious how exactly they'll do it, a regular pipewire screenshare, or perhaps some custom thing. In particular, how they'll make the plasma session sync the refresh rate with the display.

My guess is that the unnamed client is not Valve, but who knows, maybe it is.

You can gain an incredible amount of expertise *just* doing that. Of course success is not guaranteed, but there's a surprising amount of opportunities out there. Valve is the biggest and most visible player in the game but you can find this low level work in a lot more places than you'd think.

The most important thing is to not give up. It's easy to finish one thing and then abandon the topic. Just keeping on tinkering with a thing is so important and that's why it's important to choose a niche you actually like tinkering in, because you want to keep at it for a couple of years

People are often afraid of low level complicated areas, but you don't have to be. Just use C a lot and get a solid understanding how memory management works. gstreamer, wayland, mesa drivers, vulkan, synchronization, linux kernel - sounds scary? Yes, but just don't care and start doing.
