Is there some kind of homophobic trolling of his predecessor here that is going over my head? Is he trying to act like his idea of what a gay man in the position would be, not addressing transportation issues but worrying about people being physically attractive and dressing up nice to fly.

It's not possible that they're confusing using a product with the word "black" in it with acting in a socially responsible manner, is it?

Silly me for thinking the only vote on which the democrats had any power was the cloture one on which they caved...after that it's all majority votes which is the amount of votes needed for the OBBA which the Rs passed successfully. Silly me for thinkign any no votes mattered after that.

Sure...NOW is the time for Democrats to vote against it. It's not like it would have been the easiest thing possible to leverage out of there BEFORE the senate Democratic structured role call. They PUT this through at the only point in the process where they had the power or votes to stop it.

More skillful work by the USSC to enable Trump while avoiding setting precedents. This could well have been the first time they had to put any limits on him were it not for the help of the legislative Democratic leadership. I fear we just passed the point of "no easy return."

I strongly oppose the framing of this as an action by 8 senators and not as a structured roll call by the Democratic leadership. We're close to losing our republic and need to be very clear where our problems lie.

I can't bear the framing that this was rogue senators and not a structured roll call by democratic leadership. I desperately want someone to vote for in the primary who is going to be real.

Please Please Please don't present this as 8 rogue senators. This was a structured roll call brokered by Democratic leadership. Our democracy is at stake and we need to focus on where the problems are.

I was feeling much the same as you when I read this post. Not so many hours later, I vow I will never vote for a 90s Republican masquerading as a Dem again. This was a structured role call by Senate Dem leadership.

It's just hard to separate out my feelings...it was so hard to vote for Hillary after hearing her praise Nancy Reagan for her work on AIDS, for Harris after weeks and weeks of Liz Cheney, watching the lack of support for Mamdani from the party. I will never vote for a 90s Republican Dem again.

The race is thrilling, the city is so beautiful. Looks like we might have a record in the men's. Joy can be an act of defiance as well.

Read this, made an online appointment at my smalltown Walgreens, checked in, waited 50 minutes and they still didn't know when they'd have it ready as they were having system issues. Maybe I'll try walmart this weekend--we don't have a CVS. I appreciated the suggestion though.

I hope I'm gonna like it here. Downriver (2015) is the most recent movie I've watched and I recommend it. I'm just starting The Two Towers (book - never seen the films, love me some Ian McKellan but there's already a Gandalf living inside my head).
