π¨ Final 9 hours π¨ Weβve suspended our giving circle to meet extraordinary needs in an already impossible catastrophe. Families need help with transport + shelter or else they cannot escape north Gaza, which the occupation is flattening this minute.

Want a preview of the Staffordshire Hoard? At Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery we are running guided viewings of the Staffordshire Hoard, usually helmed by me! They run twice on Thursday and Saturday and you can book in here: www.birminghammuseums.org.uk/events/staff...
I'm so glad you've seen it!! This mural is my Roman Empire π I'm pretty sure the armour is the only way to track Vernon's allegiances and feelings about the Spanish war π
Congratulations!
*KLAXON* New episode!!

Why not take a minute to tell us about someone who makes Classics a nicer place.
Maybe there's someone who said just the right thing to you at just the right time.
That person deserves a bit of recognition, neh?

My first book is out now! "Asexuality in Young Adult Fiction" with Cambridge University Press. π€ππ€
This has only been my dream since I was about 7 years old. Back then, I'd have never believed my debut would be academic non-fiction. π
Read my book for free for the next two weeks: cup.org/3CEJUrZ
Congratulations!!
There's no argument against the practice, just that portraiture is not sufficient evidence of the physical manifestation of it, i.e., the Hapsburg jaw - the portraiture plays off the visual sign as proof of legitimacy so we can't assume a true to life representation
This is so disappointing and frustrating (but does give me an extra kick up the backside to finish my monograph proposal π₯²)
I advise instead (or as well!) reading the excellent piece by @yaelrice.bsky.social and @sonjadrimmer.bsky.social for Hyperallergic hyperallergic.com/604897/how-s...
Might put this on my CV β¨οΈ
Hello! I'm looking for work in teaching post 16 - FE, HE, and/or continuing ed. I can teach Classics, Ancient History, English Literature, and Art History. Short term or visiting lecturer work welcome!
Apologies, I thought you'd replied to a different skeet! Yes, I've been looking mostly in schools, and have applied for a few in academic institutions but don't seem to have enough experience!
Thank you! I'm actively looking at pastoral but would prefer teaching - I did my PhD because I really love my subject and want to share it! That said, it's good to know that pastoral roles can offer that flexibility with research
Would love to have a chat about this one if you've got time!
I have, thank you! Unfortunately I've got no training below HE and given how time and energy consuming applications are, I'm happy to leave it for those with more experience. You're right though, a fabulous job for the right person!
I'm also available for freelance research work in these areas, and have worked on You're Dead To Me and Muses: An Ampersand podcast. I'm a pop culture specialist too!

Yes, pastoral is likely to have less requirement for unpaid work (at least the roles I'm looking at). It does put me in a position where it's more difficult to access the resources for research, etc though π
There are still tickets left for my talk on Women of the Roman Arena at Dorset Museum, I hope to see you there! www.dorsetmuseum.org/whats-on/wom...
