Submitted a game 2026 7drl jam. I'm glad I did it. I'm glad it's over. I'm not the best game designer but but it re-affirmed my love of coding and of procedural systems. There's something about that moment where you watch something work for the first time, then the second time it surprises you.

I appreciate your thoughts. I have similar feelings regarding our evolving desires or even ability to "imagine". Also that's an awesome tradition you have with your daughter!
I've learned my lesson and I will be doing actual prep and taking time off from work next year 😄
I didn't plan submit a 7DRL this year and had done zero prep and didn't take time off work. But I always regret not trying, and I've yet to regret my failed submissions, even when the final product is incomplete or not fun. So here's to trying!

looks so clean! I have yet to get mouse controls working without committing serious jank to either the code or the UI. This inspired me to take another stab though.
Chunin Roguelike update: The roster is growing. I just added Tenten, master weapon summoner.
Chunin Roguelike update: We can now spend chakra points to walk on water. Except for Rock Lee of course 😁. I indicate the fact the your character is "bleeding" chakra in a few places on the screen. There's also a little particle effect in-game when your character is standing on the water tiles.

I'll start by sharing a traditional-ish roguelike I first though of at least 5 years ago. But like so many of us it has been back-burnered several times by new projects. So here's to getting it to some kind of finishing point!
