However, inclusivity means inclusivity for all, and while there's only so much the volunteer committee can do to manage the behaviour of the general public, the LGBTQI+ community as a whole really needs to make sure it's clear that anti-inclusive attitudes are not welcome.

I should point out that ULTIMATELY OVERALL, despite quite a number of issues, this was a positive experience. I largely enjoyed my interactions with other volunteers and the overwhelming majority of patrons. The people of the town of Daylesford were INCREDIBLY welcoming. I really did enjoy the work

The other volunteers have been wonderful. The organising committee has been great. The work I've been doing - promoting and supporting accessibility to reduce barriers for people to engage and join in with LGBTQI+ commuinty - is IMPORTANT WORK.

Wish I weren't made to feel unwelcome in the process.

I'm so devastated and heartbroken, that at the volunteer camp I've boymoded for one of the only times in my transition to use the camp kitchen, and shamefully snuck into the mens showers at 5 am because I know how unwelcome I am here, even thought my labour has been to make others feel welcome.

Been volunteering providing accessibility support at an LGBTQI+ festival and it's worth noting that while the AMOUNT of transphobia I receive here is the same as I receive from the straight community, it's infinitely more hurtful to have someone tell you to your face that they believe trans people -

Got a message from a friend the other day who was really uncomfortable because a someone they knew had bought them an unwanted gift and was using it to pressure them into staying over at their place in ANOTHER CITY; I had to reassure her SHE wasn't overreacting for saying no to that. Just fucked.

career if my contract isn't renewed; even though my industry is RELATIVELY tolerant, I still dread the idea of sitting for job interviews at this very liminal stage of transition, whereas that's a drawcard in some niches in sex work. (As well as the other factors you mentioned, obviously.)

There is another factor. I know so many girls who have transitioned, had to leave their job for one reason or another, and then not been able to get past the interview stage for another job. A few of my friends are in this situation right now. Even I have sex work on my shortlist for a change of

workers, and they were all I knew, so I picked a number out of the paper and rang it. I still feel sorry for that girl, who was all like "honey I really can't help you and I shouldn't talk to you. Try this phone number" (it was a gay helpline, and they basically said call back when you're older).

First time I considered that I might need to transition and wanted to find out how, I was 12, 13? and living in Sydney. And of course there was noone I could talk to - I didn't know any trans people and no school counsellor would be sympathetic to this.
