Whereas it seems like the hydroxy (oxe- and troxe-rutins) simply aren't metabolized. Not sure how much that point is oversold, but that would certainly change the effects. I could see each form working better for different purposes. (2/2)

I haven't been able to find much research looking at the hydroxy forms at all (much less in comparison!) The -hydrate forms (typically trihydrate) regularly underperform compared to quercetin-3-o-rutinoside (the most common form in parsely, buckwheat, pagoda tree), but metabolize similarly (1/2)
1. WHAT PAROVEN CAPSULES ARE AND WHAT THEY ARE USED FOR Paroven Capsules contain oxerutins as the active ingredient, which belongs to a group of medicines which act on small blood vessels (systemic vasoprotectors). Paroven Capsules stabilise the vascular wall, which lead to a reduction in the permeability of the vessels and subsequently to a diminution of swelling (oedema). Paroven Capsules relieve ankle swelling (oedema) due to chronic venous insufficiency (CVI). In patients with varicose veins and some other diseases of the leg veins, these small vessels have an excessive leakage which cause swelling of the ankles. Paroven Capsules also reduce this swelling and relieve the associated common symptoms such as aching, tired, heavy, swollen, painful and restless legs, pins and needles and night cramps. It is recommended that such patients also wear elastic support (usually compression stockings) in CVI; in these cases, Paroven Capsules have been shown to produce additional benefit.
Has anyone here tried oxerutins (Paroven and Venoruton are two brand names) for POTS, ME, LC etc?
Itβs a synthetic form of rutin used for venous insufficiency. It reduces blood vessel permeability and improves small vessel blood flow. One pwME on Twitter reports reduced PEM with it.
Wow.
My loss of other languages was the first concrete evidence that something was very, very wrong.
This was amazing!
Really excited by how this is coming together.
And for folks outside @renegaderesearch.bsky.social, I am currently taking appointments to review labs or DNA, assist with communicating with your doctor, and of course discussion of the finer details of the glutamate system.

Hello BlueSky!
It feels rather strange to be introducing myself, as most of the folks who have found me here already know me.
I am a historian of technology with a background in animal science, former horse trainer, and have been dubbed #TheGlutamateBoss
Kainate! Yes!! It's role in mast cells is part of why I've been looking into it; rare to see a study really look at the subtype level (e.g. not just lumping all Kainate together, or even all non-NMDA).
Can cause rebound effects, including increased acoustic startle ("anxiety"), irritability, muscle weakness.
Zzzquil as in diphenhydramine? Inhibits NMDA (competitive, channel rather than binding site- similar to magnesium but extreme); alters GABA (this effect will last longer); blocks acetylcholine central & peripheral (handle with care); and very mild SSRI- prozac was built from it!
Working on a custom report with Genetic Life Hacks, focusing on the genes that are both over-represented in ME/CFS and are immediately actionable. Always happy for suggestions, right now we're starting with in born errors of metabolism and the glutamate system.
Fascinating! I've come across valproic a few times due to it's inhibitory effects on NMDA and Kainate (both of which can be good or bad, depending on the starting state).

90% of my breakthroughs at least have been due to my messing something up for my own system, or talking through things with folks who have had an unexpected reaction to something!
Probably very on brand that this is my first post here π
