AEW 'Forbidden Door' Review: Solid show, with one exception The AEW and NJPW joint venture, “Forbidden Door,” is always one of the year’s most exciting shows — despite its lackluster build.

Here’s my full review of Forbidden Door. It wasn’t a perfect PPV by any means, but all in all, I was pretty impressed.

All of my match ratings are included, as well.

business as usual for the Hangman. the ace of the world doing ace shit. what a phenomenal match, making great use of MJF’s stipulations

Toni Storm delivering yet another standout performance on PPV. Match of the night thus far.

Vintage Okada performance. Leave it to Strickland to conjure that out of him.

Wardlow’s return was crazy. What a faction.

The tag team championship match was strange. The rules were unclear. The run in was stupid. The finish was flatter than a plate of piss.

I loved how AEW honored the legacies of Marty Jones and Johnny Saint. What a tremendous ode to the history of English wrestling.

I love the angle, here. Three rising stars trying to grab the brass ring and beat a legend in Moné.

I forgot to tweet the Fletcher/Takahashi rating because of the fatal fourway entrances.

It’s so cool to see a women’s mid-card championship receive this kind of spectacle, from an American promotion.

Kyle Fletcher vs. Hiromu Takahashi fucked. That was a lot of fun

I really dug their finishing move, but (Adam I Lost My) Edge (Copeland) and Christian (Cage) left a lot to be desired.

I know this isn’t a hot take, but Bullet Club needs to die. They’re not just beating a dead horse anymore. They’re mutilating it.

We need a Women’s Blood & Guts match after Forbidden Door. Then, we need a Women’s Eliminator Tournament to take center stage. Multiple matches on Dynamite and Collision for multiple weeks, that can take this division in a new direction.

I just want Willow Nightingale and Kris Statlander to be friends again. Is that so bad?

Oku and JetSpeed are every bit as fun as I thought they’d be. This is the kind of firework extravaganza, j-weight stuff that AEW fans love.

I really hope Ricochet circles back to Swerve Strickland in the near future, now that The Gates of Agony have joined him. They’re just another wrinkle in that feud, that would really make things interesting.

Uemura bleeds star power.
