Are you looking for a postdoc position working on asteroids and comets? Would it help if it's in a beautiful place in southern France? If yes, then consider applying to the following position of my colleague Benoit Carry at the Observatory in Nice:

Well, until I got the #ERCStG, I always had to work on other people's projects ;-)
See the paper (submitted to @joss-openjournals.bsky.social) here arxiv.org/abs/2507.21239
Almost 14 years ago, I started developing a Monte Carlo code for dust evolution in protoplanetary disks. The code is now publicly available! 🚀 This was possible thanks to the hard work of @turbulenthuman.bsky.social and @nereagurru.bsky.social 🙌
Take a look to learn more about the prospects of forming close-in exoplanets in-situ by pebble accretion!
Illustration of the planet-building process of accretion.
Illustration of a pair of quasars merging. For NOIRLabs, Tucson
Disintegrating planet. For a press release for Harvard Centre for Astrophysics
Illustration showing a galaxy as a giant whirlpool in space, and the galaxy's effect on that space.
Here's a selection of illustrations I've created for science press releases over the years.
Please repost for me!
And if you need to commission this kind of work, check my background. I'm your man.

I'm so grateful for this opportunity to expand my research group at @mpsgoettingen.bsky.social thanks to the Lise Meitner Excellence Program 🪐 www.mps.mpg.de/studying-pla...
The Max Planck Institute for Astronomy Summer Internships are open for applications! This is an opportunity for bachelor and masters students 🤩 If you are interested in doing some exoplanets research, contact me!

Most of the planet formation models assume a Solar-type central star. But exoplanets form around stars of various masses and compositions. Do you want to work on exoplanet formation models? Apply now to join our group as a postdoctoral researcher next year!
What are the meteorites actually telling us about the Solar System formation? Are the meteorite parent bodies really left-over planetesimals? 🤔 If you would like to investigate this, apply to work with me as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Solar System Formation! The deadline is January 15th, 2025.
At the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute of the University of Groningen we are looking for 2 PhD students in the fields of exoplanets and planetary science, see:

Please share these positions with potentially interested students and your network. 🙂

There are new PhD positions open in my group! Apply until October 1st to work on some cool projects in planet formation 🪐 More details here: www.mps.mpg.de/phd/planetar...
This may be the most important paper in the planet formation field in recent years - showing how to go from dust to a chain of massive planets 🟤🪐🔵🔵 If you are at
#Exoplanets5 you can talk to the first author, Tommy Lau 😉 arxiv.org/abs/2406.12340 With @birnstiel.bsky.social @stammler.bsky.social
I will be there and will be happy to meet you :-)
Are you thinking of going to EPSC this year? It's in Berlin and will surely be a blast. I'm organising session EXOA12 with @astrojoanna.bsky.social and others on "Protoplanetary disks and planetesimal formation".
Abstract deadline: May 15.

My institute is looking for a (female) director www.mps.mpg.de/director-nom...
Gas disks around young stars are actually not very flat, but dust particles are not pressure-supported (as opposed to the gas) and larger dust aggregates settle to much thinner disks and eventually form flat planetary systems :-)
I have a couple of colleagues who would qualify but they are not here, LinkedIn is where you find them ;-)
Are you a PhD astronomer working outside academia? I want to hear about your job! 🔭🧪
On #InternationalWomensDay, here's a quick reminder how to retain more women in academia:
- educate yourself on unconscious biases,
- provide a safe work environment with no everyday sexism,
- include us in decision making,
- don't force us into service work that no one wants to do.

Submit your abstracts and travel grant requests for the European Astronomical Society Annual Meeting 2024 in Padova until March 4! I hope to see many of you there!
I had a great and intense week visiting CfA and MIT - you can watch my CfA colloquium here: www.youtube.com/live/tyfjG0R...
📢 Another great opportunity to do research in planet formation: Sebastiaan Krijt is looking for a postdoc to join his group at the University of Exeter👇
📢 Job alert: PhD and postdoc positions in planet formation 🪐 My former boss @birnstiel.bsky.social just unleashed new openings in his group, and trust me when I say, working with him is like winning the job lottery!
Ah right, sorry I didn't look at the author list 🙈
