i'd say most of the ps1 FFs have pretty solid starts, with FF8 probably being the biggest slowburner before it really gets going. VII is on an entirely different level. Disc 1 is chalk full of moments that I would expect from later discs.

one thing i think is a really fun throughline in KH is when some characters get access to darkness-based combat styles they attack with just their hands a lot more. Rage and Anti-Form both have Sora just fuckin clawing at guys and Dark Impulse has Terra decking dudes and using hands of darkness
