Landscape photograph of steep cliffy mountain escarpment wrapped in luminous haze. One can see the valley floor, a large rugged ridge and a hint of higher terrain in the background, but most of the ridge and hill outlines are faint amidst bright mist illuminated by sunlight.

Landscape photograph of a line of diagonal mountain ridges backlit with luminous haze, which feels as though it's spilling over the mountain front.

Jackson Frishman captures some of my favorite conditions of atmospheric and light from the Eastern Sierra Nevada.

Earlier this year I shared my 2025 Favorite Photographs. But not eveyrhing gets included in that list, so I've created a post including some photographs that did not quite make it: 2025 (Almost) Favorite photographs.

Haven Watch No One Walks Alone

Just saw that this is havenwatch.org and that they have a fundraising page for their efforts. Terrific group and idea! Thanks for posting! I need to see if there is anything similar locally (Seattle area).

Where is this?

Nice lines in this one - with the foreground sand dunes and the mountains in the background. Nice comp.

Oh c'mon, I see a little yellow there! Then again, maybe that is my cataract vision. ;-)

This is a really cool photo! I love the foggy foreground and that tree - great "environmental shot"! It almost looks black and white!

This photo actually caught my eye when I wasn't even looking directly at it! The simplicity and the composition made me jump to it, and only then did I realize it was a photo of a dune. Nice photo and comp by David!

Texas will have two terrific candidates for Texas Senator now! Crockett and Talarico have far greater intelligence than Trump or members of his family and his enablers.

Godspeed Rep. Jasmine Crockett! And James Talarico!

Electric cars are fantastic. My first is a Hyundai Ioniq 6. Almost always beats the range estimate of 316 miles (US). The main thing holding back adoption in the US aside from idiotic politicians, is the insufficient charging infrastructure in rural areas, and in apartment buildings.

Trump, and Trump Jr. and Eric Trump will never be the man that Tim Walz is, and his wife Melania and daughter Ivanka will never be the women that Hope or her mom Gwen are. Frankly, they will never be the compassionate, caring, emotional person that Gus is either.

Very moody! Nicelycomposed, and beautiful reflection and light.

LOL! So true, the best shots are often unplanned. A brief glimpse as one is driving, jump out of the car, dash to catch the moment!

600 f/4 + 2x extender to get that focal length. Many of my shots are more easily handheld with a 400 f/4 with or without a 1.4x or 2x extender. Tough to handhold the 600 for any length of time anymore!

This must have been an incredible sight to see, after having seen it dry so many times! Beautifully photographed.

The light was not pretty today in the Skagit flats of WA state, but I was out for a while. Here are two photos of Red-Tailed Hawks. In the left photo, there is a mouse in the hawk's left talon. On the right, the hawk was standing on one leg on a post a long way out (1200mm focal length).

And from the linked article:

"But government agencies won’t act on this unless they hear from you.

You can help. Send a letter to Fisheries and Oceans Canada by October 31 urging them to establish a whale-safe window for both endangered Chinook and endangered killer whales."

Thanks for posting.
