Overall, color and geometry are pretty good.
Plastis was broken in so many places. Very brittle in this model.
Always replace the caps on the PSU for these units. The main filter cap was bulging
Got myself a SONY BVM-9045QD
Recapped the PSU and some other caps on the main boards who are known to fail. Made some other plastic repairs but didn't need much done. It works amazing

Crackling sounds?
Sounds like the flyback transformer is on its way out. Or if you are lucky, the noise comes from the anode cap that might just need some dielectric grease. Can you determine where the noise comes from ?
Trust me, I went through this, and aftermarket flybacks aren't as good 😔
