Just wrapping up my workday. Anything fun and exciting going on in the world of evil billionaire bro-mance?

All fair in DC where everyone is from somewhere else more than anywhere else I've lived. (Toronto! New York!)
Ed and I staring down the start of the baseball/softball season, calendars in hand, dividing and conquering, booking car shares, team motels, looking for last year's cleats.
I also don't know what this is! I guess Toronto counts as "warmer climates."
Just keep talking about the carbon tax, that'll do it
If this was a satire, we'd be told to take it down a notch.
Unfortunately this is someone in the office that used to lead the free world.
Well this seems like a fantastic plan.

I haven't heard any Canadian leader talk about leading on the world stage my entire life. And I'm not that young
I love that. We have a federal election (Canadian) at the end of the month that should be pretty momentous for my son
All those 2006 babies who flooded the schools and broke the parks and rec registration system are 18 and 19 this year! Campaigns should take note.
Damn, this is a good ad. Great to see a Dem who can read the room get set to translate it into votes.
First of April and I've seen no joke stories in my feeds. Real life is enough right now.
The contained rage here is incredible. You have to think, hope, this is going to rise across America.
Breaking: My 16yo is just home from an all ages show and say the bands were handing out folded photocopied zines. ZINES! This makes me so happy.
Right π
Just facts, Schmutzie! I'd love a reunion
Yes, it wasn't just mom blogs at all. I always thought of you as one of the core voices of the community. It really was a special time.
I caught up with @karengreeners.bsky.social and @louisegleeson.bsky.social to talk about OG mom blogging and the raw truth and honest connections we made. Who else misses those days?
You can listen to us here: open.substack.com/pub/rebeccac...
28 new @spacing.bsky.social subs in 24hrs. Can we get 50 in this buy-Cdn wave? 50 is huge. Locally produced, printed, owned & sourced. Arrives in your mail! Supports free-to-read content online.
(I listened to Detroit @wdet.bsky.social's pledge drive last week. I am feeling the vibe here too!)
A meditation on protein goals
And other horrible things
My new Substack is live! You don't need to pay to subscribe.

They stab trees to extract their lifeblood. Canadians are vicious mofos
But it really was okay for a minute. Also hat tip to @elizmccrack.baky.social because I thoroughly enjoyed that story collection
When my phone serves pics from DC in fall 2021 -- those few post-pandemic-ish months we were living there -- I feel the relief wash over me again. Biden's America. It was okay, man. I mean, in a few months the Uvalde shootings made my family leap at the chance to move back to Toronto. To come home
I keep thinking about blogging again. Substack? Or I still pay hosting fees at the old url...and feeling like it's a good idea to own your own platform these days. Any thoughts?
I'd also prefer a PWYC model rather than monthly subscription.
This is like a satire.
Putting every single Canadian politician on notice: There is going to be zero patience from the Canadian public for any nakedly partisan messaging moving forward. No cheap stunts, no reductive slogans: we need the best version of each and every one of you to show up for the rest of us right now.
The Americans were awesome. Up and down, side to side, relentless and talented and tough, and they have the best goalie in the world. But Canada still produces the very best players, the most special players, the McDavids and MacKinnons and Crosbys and Makars. Been doing it for decades.
Yessss budddyyy
